Why voted cold? Anywhere on the high street selling cheaper?

Or just ps3 boys at it again?

Hot from me!
#2
I'm not a Gears fan and even I'm tempted.
#3
do the downloadable levels come with this?
#4
HOT price. I presume it was cold because people think it is unconfirmed, but since sainsburys games have all been 29 quid recently, it should be true.

just gonna ring my sainsbury now and weill edit when i have an answer

EDIT they do not know until the day of release as they may change the price right up to the point they put the games on the shelf so its unknown and certainly not confirmed

It's a bit soon to be talking about DLC maps isn't it?

no, they are giving all people who buy brand new copies a code to download some of the older maps, which have been re-done.

the plot thickens. i would imagine they were allready priced up. i think some places fob you off when you go in and ask. i asked in the week and they said they would know thursday. all i can post is what i was told at the shop.

no way mate they are in a position to price them how they see fit by looking at what tesco or asda will do so they wont commit themselve just yet until they know what other retailers will do

I must correct myself, found this info:

"The Flashback Map Pack will be available immediately at launch, and consists of five popular maps from the original “Gears of War,” including: Canals, Gridlock, Mansion, Subway and Tyro Station. Each map has been specially updated with new graphics for “Gears of War 2.”

I can't imagine that Microsoft would give anything for free though. :whistling:

Can't wait for the game regardless.

Only got a Sainsbury central near me and they don't do games :(

Voted HOT though
#15
i've got it coming from tesco entertainment at £31... saves the petrol!
#16
oh and the first one was good, only reason i didn't complete it was coz half way thru, the 360 decided that it was gonna ditch the saves! it happened with Black too, lol... hope this one's ok, shame it's not on the PS3!
#17
Mine was shipped by TheHut.com this morning at the £28.43 pre-order price :)
Great price yet again for retail though, so hot all the way - We can only hope Sainsburys continue this madness. (Though I think I've had my fill of festive releases now).

Black was Xbox 1 game (but was compatible with the 360), and, and, and, errr I've forgotten what I was being pedantic about...

Woohoo GOW2! Got mine ordered from Tesco a while back at £31, Sainsburys have beaten them again!
#19
If so I'll be using the Mrs' staff card (15% discount) as I did for Fallout 3!

That'll be £24.65 please sir! :)

If true then thebeast should also get some credit

BUT my local Blockbuster will not know the price they are charging until Friday morning (asked at lunchtime). So the same could apply to Sainsbury.

I'm not voting until the price is confirmed.........

it was confirmecd by the woman in the shop. she looked honest.....

everyone can "look" honest nowadays.

The free levels are a way to try and make people buy the game new, rather than second hand - each copy only comes with one license to download the levels, so if you do buy second hand you wont get them.

A good thing, imo; as second hand games only profit the retailer and not the creators and developers.

Heres hoping sainsburys do mirror's edge for £29 next week!
#23
I'd get this but tentatively have the limited edition on pre-order. I was hoping that the downloadable content would only be available if you purchase the collector's edition otherwise I can't justify spending a further £10 for the metal case, making-of DVD and artbook. I know the collector's edition has the code to get the gold-plated Lancer assault rifle which is a bonus if you're a completest like me ;)
The extra maps are a big draw towards buying the limited editon so if they are available on the regular version for free, I wonder if it's actually worth spending [approx] £10 more on the limited edition?
#24
Saying that, if anyone has NXE and wants to test the party system in Gears 2 either tomorrow or friday (if you manage to get the game early too), add me to xbox live! :D

Also, just FYI: Gears 2 is a worldwide launch on Friday, so for once we'll actually get a game before America! :)

Yes the 'flashback' map pack is free and Microsoft have nothing to do with setting the prices for prices for DLC.
Criterion who developed Burnout Paradise under EA released all their expansions for free if you remember

Back on topic: Voted hot on the assumption this is correct, these heads-ups on the £29 games haven't been wrong yet.

Microsoft would have say in the DLC price for gears though - they're the publisher!

Well, maybe if it wasn't in the context of the gaming industries term for a worldwide launch, which means the same day.. Timezones mean we get it a few hours earlier.. :P

Right... so off to Sainsburys to pick up Gears on Friday morning... then off to Game to pick up Guitar Hero World Tour complete bundle (If preordered they give u an extra guitar).
#33
It's 28.99 at http://www.gamehubs.com/
If you pre-ordered it, would have been 26.99
They always raise it by £2 when the game is released.
Still cheaper than the high street.
#34
I heard if you download and install the New NXE on your 360 Microsoft bans your live account until Official release day??
#35
*Really* hoping this works out...Can't afford to pay 40 for the game, but want it bad...anyone know next cheapest?

Not true, they just ban your live account permanently.

For anyone that wants the game at midnight like myself, this may help.

Yep, thats the two games I can't wait for either. Although I'm just getting the Guitar pack, which I managed to pre-order for £61.00.

Have some rep for good taste.

You might be there a while as they are only releasing the GHWT software only Friday. :)
