Your graphics might get in the way but you should be able to play all of them.

I almost bought Bully recently but apparently its a terrible port, just fyi

I would avoid the PC versions of the GTA4 games, you need a monster of a PC just to get a smooth frame rate.

The other GTAs are great on PC because of the mods you can install.

Anyone know if you can use the Xbox USB controller on a Mac to play these games?

Description for the games just say keyboard and mouse.

This is true, I have an i7 920, ATI Radeon 4890 with 6gb 1600mhz RAM and have to lower the settings a tad (draw distance mainly) to keep above 50fps. Maybe a GFX upgrade is needed. Regardless these games load the entire city therefore sap every bit of power from your hardware.

I can run Crysis at 1080p at a higher framerate.

if you are gonna get the GTA4 games, suggest opt for the liberty city pack (gay tony and Lost & Damned) as they optimised the engine and fixed more of the issues with frame rates. Vice city and San andreas are better games but the graphics are terrible.

The main issues associated with view distances is due to the game being design for video cards with 1.5gb ram (despite 512mb being the standard at release) hence to max everything out without buffer thrashing etc you need a lot of GPU ram, even 1gb cards suffer popup texturing due to this. System ram have little to do with the problem as does cpu, when running on my i7 8gig with 5870 gpu the resources are barely using 45% cpu and ram is about 2.5gb.... basically the engine was badly coded and never designed to run to PC levels... although it **** on the console editions which struggle to run well at 25-30fps with lowest details compared to PC, to see what the console detail is like set detail sliders to about 10-15% quality, all the specific options to LOW, and view distance about 15%.... suddenly it runs 60fps+ on ya PC...lol

Yeah, my 4890 only has 1GB. Still overall, GTAIV is a very good game and I had a great experience playing it. :)

the main issue with Bully is the graphics bugs were never fixed, so if you are in the unlucky 50% of users you will get the invisible scenery problem... shame.

oh I quite agree, even if you have to suffer 40fps to get it running on medium/high settings, the gameplay itself is brilliant and worth every penny... even the multiplayer is decent (at least when you find games where people are not using fly and wall hacks or even worse rocket pistols etc)

in fact I bought GTA 4 twice, 1st time at release for boxed one with all the maps etc, then last month on the steam deal with the addons for under a tenner....
#25
Can't wait for the next one, will be a long time waiting though...

Voted hot!

Vice City will always be my favourite....Tommy Vercetti and the 80's...... and who could forget Dance Lance Vance.

Hot deal - might see about downloading Vice city! The best version.
