OK, I know this one has very limited appeal but if you fit the profile the savings are massive! It does apply to the less exotic models in the range too so if just one HUKD member benefits it's worthwhile.

Times are tough in the motor business and especially for the prestige/luxury manufacturers like our own Jaguar Land Rover. Just at the moment I'm sure your local dealer would rip your arm off to sell you one, but employees and pensioners (that's me!) of the company have exclusive deals available for themselves and their family members (it's called Employee Privilege). Definition of family member is pretty broad - runs from nephew/niece to grandson/granddaughter and includes in-laws and step/half relatives too; even common law relationships.

I've just been sent the latest prices and discounts range from just over 10% off a new Jaguar XF (still a hot product so lower discount) up to over 22% on an XJ. All Land Rovers are at a straight 20% off. In many cases that's more than the dealer's margin. Examples from the real world are Freelander from £17,099.25 (saving £4,195.75) or X-Type from £18,104.88 (saving £3,458.12). All prices on the road. I suspect you may find the dealer keen to better even these prices if he can and I assume the scrapping incentive should work but ask first.

If you have a relative (even a distant one) working for Jaguar Land Rover (the manufacturer, not a dealer) they may not know about this or may not have thought you'd be interested, so if you are please contact them. They then need to get details for you.

No, it's not an insider deal - as an ex-employee (pensioner) I know just how good these products are these days, LR especially is vastly improved on where it used to be and Jaguar quality is in the top league. I'd really like to see them doing better in these hard times.

If nothing else, lets have a bit of credit for trying to support British manufacturing!

OK, so it's not for you (or me), but if it was I think you'd be pleased to know about it.
I can understand it's not relevant for most people but why is it cold?

No, please explain. They keep around 40,000 people employed in the UK and pay lots of taxes into our economy. 75% exported too so that's plenty of foreign exchange.

Again, it probably isn't for you but it's not a cold deal just because you don't like the brand.

About 10,000 at each manufacturer plus four times that at suppliers, so that's probably approaching 100,000 between them.

I think you'll find they run at a loss and even receive tax-payer backed loans:-

Do you live in a town or in the country? I drive a 2002 Discovery and, although it's not the best road car by far, I can be confident that it'll get me across the fields when I'm towing traps for clay pigeon shoots. The car does its job well and gets seven of us around in reasonable comfort. As to having "moral fibre", I guess that's up to others to say but I would hope not to be found wanting!

A deal is a deal, whether it's something at a Pound Shop or something like this. The point is, is this a reasonable deal for the product offered?

garbage, overpriced cars

they should thank the likes of Jordan for promoting these toss mobiles

in fact, why r people so interested in flashy expensive cars ?

70mph speed limit

congested roads

polluting the air we breath

about time people stopped worrying about their ' status ' and what the neighbours think, and worry a bit more about the state of the world they are polluting / destroying

if these people want a bit of status, heres an idea for these tossers, how about getting a fecking education ?

And theres the question:thumbsup: Can't see why people who only drive round town/motorways would want one, let alone need one.

exactly.

they drive one, cos they think they are safe in it, which means they drive even worse than usual,

they also think they are cool in one, and like to show that they are financially well off ( even though most of them are bought on finance )

Im going to borrow 500000 BILLION tommorow, and become the worlds richest person

the fact is, ALL of the people who drive these cars are nothing more than glorified chavs

Head gasket gone yet? Or did that happen to the previous owner?

Oh dear, this has opened a can of worms. What happened to choice these days? how one person choices to spend their money is up to them.

Not everyone who owns a Land Rover is a townie, some people actually need them. I think they are an excellent reliable car, how many old ones do you see that seem to go on and on for ever, many farmers couldn't do their job without one?

And no, I don't own a Land Rover or a Jaguar - but I do think it's an excellent deal, a huge saving off the list price and glad someone took the time and effort to post so I could make my own mind up

It's a great deal if you are a farmer or somebody who needs to drive across open land. There's not much on the market which comes close to the Range Rovers for driving across fields and ditches. Not much can match it for towing power either. As a professional vehicle it is very good. £60K for a professional vehicle which is going to survive a difficult life isn't necessarily unreasonable.

Yes, it's pointless for city driving, but then with today's slow, narrow city roads so are most sports cars, muscle cars and even MPVs if you don't have a large family.

If some rich numptys want to pay a lot for what is really a vehicle designed for professionals that's fine by me. The increased volumes will help keep the prices lower for the pros. who really need them.

actually, there was NOTHING RACIST in my comments, merely pointing out the facts

IF YOU find my comment racist, then you are by default, associating the fact a white woman has a black child as something derogatory ( I wasnt )

it IS a fact that most women who have black kids are from deprived / council estates, IE chavs at best

I dont see many upper class women bearing black children

these are the facts, not my opinion ,

DONT HATE THE PLAYER - HATE THE GAME

You're right, the Toyotas are good. However, if I got stuck in deep mud, I'd prefer having a lightweight Defender with a winch coming to my rescue.

>> Racism is the belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race.[1] In the case of institutional racism, certain racial groups may be denied rights or benefits, or get preferential treatment. <<

nothing in my Jordan comments were racist I think you will find.

People in the Uk are so media controlled, that they fear even speaking about black people, as its auto deemed as racist

the fact the racist card is often brought up, proves by definition, that the people bringing it up are seeing black people as different people , that in itself is closer to racism then anything else

Im not racist, as i will talk about whites, blacks, yellows, all under the same breath, with nothing to hide
