I got a call from them offering me this. On their website, this package would cost around £18-25pm. Also free "M" class router or whatever, no fees and also free McAfee secuirty.

Good ? Certainly better than BE yesterday...

New or existing customer?

New. I'm not even an O2 customer. They knew I'd just quit SKY.

By O2 customer, I mean not on any of their mobile packages or have ever been for any of their services.

Earlier in the year I got up to 20mb @ 7.5/m + 70 quidco connecting the account to an 02 mobile account. They changed their packages to make some limited downloads since but really good prices with 02 are possible.

I recently renewed my expired O2 BB contract with O2 to get the home phone included with free evening and weekend calls for only £9.50 pm.

At first they put me on the 'All rounder' package which has some restrictions on streaming etc but as I wasn't informed of this at the time of renewing. After finding this out I phoned up and complained and threatened to cancel so they changed my package to the top level 'The works' all for the same price.

Worth a try if you weren't informed of the new 'throttling / traffic shaping

Been customer for 2 years now, would have reccomended them before, not now. Throttling speeds without informing customers, awful customer service that. I watch a lot of streaming in the evening, rubbish now.7 meg during the day, less than 1 after 4 pm.Looking for another isp at the moment.

I'm not updating the contract for that reason.

I tried to do a check on the BE site 2 nights ago to see if I could get thier broadband since I have heard so many good things about it. The broadband checker wouldn't work and continually got errors, so I gave up.

Phone goes today and its a guy from O2 asking who was doing the search for broadband the other night, after informing him it was none of his business he informed me that O2 own BE therefor it WAS thier business.

The tone of the conversation went downhill very quickly, he had a cheek to match the price I am on with Plusnet but would increase my usage allowance to 40GB instead of the paltry 20GB I have with Plusnet.

I said no thanks as i could get better offerings from Sky, to which he argued that i couldn't...he claimed Sky didn't provide Broadband in my area. I called him a liar and pointed out the exchange was LLU'ed 2 YEARS ago and that Sky had phoned me yesterday offering me unlimited 20mb for £7.50 a month with no download limits.

His exact response was to say "go with whoever you want, dont matter to me...".

If thats an example of BE/O2 customer service then they can go take a flying *e** as far as I am concerned.

As bad as Plusnet are, I will stick with them until i decide what to do next.

must have had a bad start to the day with getting in work with the extra snow. I can't recall any problems ever with O2 staff even at 2 in the morning. I guess it goes to show how we all have different experiences with companies nowadays. I got total arrogance from Demon when with them hence why I went to O2
