2 piece cast iron cookware set £42.50 delivered

http://www.viners.co.uk/images/l_cast_iron_cookware.jpg

New from Viners, this delightful cast iron cookware is an absolute must for the kitchen. In funky bright orange the set comprises a multi-use 23cm casserole with lid (capacity 4.6 litres/ 8.1 pints) and a 24cm frying pan (capacity 2 litres/ 3.5 pints). Casserole has a white enamel interior and is oven safe. Frying pan has a non stick interior and attractive wooden handle (hand wash only).

awesome deal, not much use for it, but still great...

Hate to put a downer on this deal, but the gauge of the stainless steel on the pans (home starter kit & Gala 5 Piece) looks paper thin. I wouldn't even pay £20 for it. Have had pans like that years ago, and an empty pan will not even sit flat on the cooker. The metal is so light-weight, the handle tips it over.

Haven't voted hot or cold as it MAY be worth £42 of someones money to get them started.

Thanks 4 posting,I have ordered the set and I have also ordered the cutter chopper set for £12 down from £60.
Rep & Heated.

It looks like very cheap quality. I would avoid.

Great deal, in the guarantee section on the website it states all Viners cookware and cutlery carries a guarantee. I wonder if it still applies to clearance stuff?

Myself and my girlfriend are looking into our first place together in the next couple of months so this would start things off nicely in the kitchen :)

I cannot add to basket ... I tried with IE, Firefox, Avant ...javascrip problem ????
#12
Excellent just bought the 32piece dinnerware set, the knives in the briefcase and the coffee bean dinner set oh and a set of cuttlery.

Just wondering how you can tell that from the pictures? Even the zoomed versions on the website don't zoom *that* close.

I'm not having a go, it's just that whenever Viners deals appear, the goods seem to be dismissed as automatically being of poor quality. Previous experience is very useful but speculation isn't necessarily helpful and puts people off grabbing a bargain. Once a seed of doubt is sown...

At a little over £1 an item you can't go far wrong.

What you think is £42.50 is expensive? £42.50 is bloody cheap and if you were setting up home on a budget then this would do very well for a while until you could afford better.

When I think back to the cast off ***** we had all those years ago when we had our first home I can only think that we would have been over the moon if someone had given us a set like this. Not everyone is flushed enough to buy quality.
#15
I dont understand how ppl say it is cheap? This is massive discount some stuff is £80 normally the cuttlery etc. SO its only end of line stuff, deffo not cheap they just want rid of it for space in the warehouse i reckon!

Again! HOT DEAL!!

I also have some of these pans from the same company, and they do not fall over! IN fact they are weighted well and the glass lid adds further to the weight. They do not fall over.
#17
rather small pots and with only 24cm frying pan but still a bargain for a small household.
#18
The deal doesn't include "pots"... it includes pans. When people say "pots and pans" the "pots" refers to items made from pottery, i.e. plates, bowls, dishes, etc. But for some reason most people seem to think pots and pans are the same thing...

Anyway, just thought I'd mention this. Good deal though, voted hot!

Viners are rubbish. I bought a set of cutlery by them from Argos a few years ago - they were cheap, but the handles snapped within months. Useless.. The el-cheapo Ikea metal cutlery set I bought to replace 'em is still going strong. Bloody plastic handles on those Viners - insane!

The Viners brand ruined for life for me anyway because of that...
#20
hard to tel if its dressed up poundland stuff or not.

Where there is zero technical data, it spells 'complete rubbish' most of the time

Thanks - very good prices, but it is very much a case of getting what you pay for with Viners. It's all made in the Far East, and the quality is very variable.

You could also consider IKEA, who do, for example cutlery at £4.99 for a 24 piece set:

http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/70014999

Quality much on a par with Viners. They do quite a range at very good prices:

http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/IkeamsSearch?storeId=7&langId=-20&catalogId=11001&searchType=product&pageNumber=-1&orderBy=score&category=%23%7EProducts&query=cutlery

I've got a set of that cutlery and it's great - a real bargain.

Thanks for the comments - put me off buying altogether. It does look like the sort of site that raises prices in order to be able to headline a big discount.

How many of you had actually heard of Viners before this post!

I think many of you are running of the hysteria generated from the red discount..without making proper consideration for the REAL value..

I can confirm that these items are no where near the quality the original price suggests. There is no way these items were ever sold at the original price..Perhaps they were labeled up at those prices in some back shelf catalogue in order that they may legaly then advertise them at what would seem a hugely discounted price...It works with funiture i see no reason why It can't work with kitchenware..

Make no mistake, cheap kitchenwares are being sold everywhere for the same price and even less...thankfully..most of us do not need high end..and this stuff does the job..but do not make the mistake of allowing this cheap ploy to fool you into thinking that you got a bargain

Viners usually do some quality stuff, this however isn't. Rest of the items on their site are double the rrp.

No THEY ARE NOT! Read my post earlier.

***** cutlery set with plastic handles bent and snapped within months. A quality brand wouldn't make tat like that...

Im confused now, i have spent £70 on stuff.

R u saying I shouldnt have bothered?
#32
Just ordered one for my son who's off to uni this Sept. Can't comment on the quality yet, but as he can burn water, I'm sure it will do him fine!!

You are joking!? Viners have been ubiquitous in this country for years, and years ago it was a staple canteen set on wedding present lists for newlyweds. Always been mostly a value brand and they used to stamp "Viners of Sheffield" on everything. Years ago all their stuff was good quality. I don't think I ever ate as a kid round a ralatives house who didn't have some Viners stuff.

Since they have been owned by the US group Oneida, they don't produce much if anything in Sheffield anymore, far eastern generic stuff gets the Viners brand applied.

I don't associate Viners with cookware though, just cutlery. I use induction hobs so this stuff is no use to me. Still hot though.

My order delivered today, going check it later.

lol, i borught one of these in Australia when I was waiting for my stuff from Target and was branded as HomeStyle.
Was not bad quality - think it cost me $50 :)
