I currently have Entertainment pack with Sky sports and Skyplus HD. I rang to upgrade to movies just for a month - the charge is £7.00, after this has been done they put you through to the cancellation dept, who offer a 20% discount off your total bill for six months, so monthly bill ends up being cheaper by at least £3.00.

This is what my brother did the other day

Has just sent sky an email cause i am not happy!!! Treat customers like **** and kiss the **** of people leaving! Did you know if you leave sky then they will send you a letter saying if you come back and quote a code then they will give you 12 months half price!! So i just emailed them and told them what i thought!


He got a reply....and 6months half price!!!! You don't get anything if you don't complain!!! Might have to try that one...or get him to do it for me!!! lol

this could just be one of skys sporadic offers that's not guaranteed for all customers to get.

I phoned to cancel, no offers available on my account, got some manager after about 15 minutes and got 1/2 price everything for 6 months. So I upgraded and took the sports and now pay less than before. Then in 6 months, footie is over, they can either keep it at half price or sayonara,

they dont always make those offers! i was a customer for 6 years, phoned to see if any discounts were available, they said no, i cancelled whole package, emailed complaint and got nothing but "we're sorry you unsatisfied blah blah blah"

Same with VM. Some people seem lucky with discounts. Probably depends who you get on the phone and how they feel that day.

if you phone sky and get put through to the customer services and talk to them. I do this every 6 months. the reason is i have been told that you are allowed 2 deals on your tv package and 1 on your line rental or broadband. i basically ask them what offers they have on and at the moment i have sky movies half price for 6 months and 20% of the total package price and 6 months half price line rental for a year (sky phone line)

What my conversation proves is that their regular stance of " there are no offers available on your account" is just rubbish as their management, or most likely a shift supervisor, is able to knock 50% off everything at a stroke !

One good point is that if you phone up when they are getting large quidco or topcashback then you can simply threaten to leave. Just get a prepaid mastercard (if you all have the same name) in any name and you become the new tenants of your own property !
