This is towards the upper-end of the price range for this item, although the price range is small. Identical item sent from same seller/co using different ID can easily be had for less; random example at http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261422330584.

I purchased one of these for a friend and to be honest they are poor quality. I've had a few different one over the years but so far this was the worst.

I ordered one from this seller, the quality isn't great however it is cheap. The delivery took a week on first class, turns out it was 24 hour after I asked confirmation of despatch a week after purchase!

Doesn't say that is supports UASP so if used with an SSD it may be slower than expected.

Worth paying more to get UASP.

Be careful about products that use a JMicron chipset (the main integrated circuit that bridges across from USB to SATA) -- they're notorious for disconnections while you're transferring data and the like. Despite firmware updates they've proven to be garbage, and perhaps not coincidentally, the cheapest USB 3.0 enclosures and docks tend to use them. Some of the defective ones also support UASP so that alone is not an indicator of a good enclosure.

The ones from ASMedia seem to be good, but as mentioned, they often carry a price premium. But I suppose in this particular case you gets what you pays for.

This hard drive caddy only supports hard drives up to 750GB. So you will need to supply a hard drive any size under 750GB.

Enough for one movie? 750GB is enough for say.. 250 HD movies at 3GB a movie?

I used a 1tb and works fine

It's more to do with the quality of it. It works but the one I got just wouldn't snap together as the plastic was cheap and didn't line up. The actual interface was fine. There's a lot better out there for similar money IMO.

Any you could recommend?

Had two cheap as chips USB caddies - one worked and another didn't (got my money back fortunately), both felt like they'll fall apart at any moment.

These type units are pretty basic but usually pretty good. The problem with the ones in this deal is that the plastic doesn't seem to fit very well.
