Dane-Elec also make RAM which I have had in previous machines and the RAM had no issues.

Looks the best design too so you can have it on the keys without any damage

From the site:
Please note: The loop at the rear of the key drive is not suitable for attaching to a key ring and can either damage the key ring or the key drive.

Do these have lids that can be lost or do they flip open or something?

where did you get yours from 12 months back?

I did buy the same make SD card ages ago from 7 Day Shop and would have lots of random errors, lost some data and photos - same problem with other lesser known makes from 7 DayShop..No problems though with SanDisk, Toshiba, Lexar, etc.

Thanks for the info on DE... They're chubby little fellas aren't they? I'm a bit worried I might have trouble fitting them into my already overloaded USB ports though so might have to look for someting slimmer after all.

Gutted really as the price seems good and my cuz was going to go halves for the pair!

They look like tampons!
#16
What tampons you been lookin' at?

Anyone know the all important write speeds on these?

I bought a Dane-Elec 256mb SD card for my camera about 8 years ago & it still works fine. The Kinsgton 2gb SD I bought earlier this year has already broken!!. Dane-Elec used to be the company that gave the longest guarantee of 10years......until Kingston started the Lifetime warranty thing....does anyone know if I need a receipt to send my £5 kingston card back to them??

I vote hot, well spotted OP :thumbsup:

seem to be very slow which may explain price

Super fast read speed! 173x (26Mbps)

26mbps = 3.25Megabytes per second so would take 41 minutes to read the full 8gig :w00t:

expect the write speed to be even slower!

I would go for the sandisk cruzer which took me 11 minutes to read 8gig and 13 minutes to write (1000's of files). Much smaller and only 4p more ;)

Bought 4 a dane-elec 4GB Compact Flash card from these guys a while back...1 popped. These look good for the price, but due to my bad experience, I will never buy anything dane-elec again. I also have an 8gb sandisk mini cruzer USB drive, which I love, and wouldn't buy anything other than sandisk when it comes to flash memory.

If the loop is not suitable for attaching to a key ring, what is the point of it being there?

It could damage the key ring? what on earth does that mean?

Great info m8. Found this on another website for the drive you listed;

Read/Write: 9/4 MB/s.

But for this drive (http://www.mymemory.co.uk/USB-Flash-Drives/Kingston/Kingston-8GB-DataTraveler-USB-Flash-Drive) its;

Write Speed: 20MB/s
Read Speed: 6MB/s

And a lot cheaper!
