does it work with Vista?

one of the reviewers on the DX site said
I am using Windows Vista and didn't even need to install the driver software on the mini CD which came with the dongle as it found the correct driver online which made the dongle work great.

I bought this for my eurovox as some of the reviews said it can be used with vista, but I couldn't get it to work on my pc. I gave up and went round and used an older pc round a mates house. A lot cheaper than buying it from a uk store, think maplin charged about £11 for a similar item
#8
These devices are very very hit-or-miss when it comes to the Eurovox. Be warned before you buy... like fryster said its much more reliant to find someone who has a com port on motherboard.

A plug and play box to receive cable that is not paid for

Thanks, this is something i've been looking for.
Very tempted to order, their prices on their website are really cheap, and free international delivery too.
Has anyone had any experiences with this company? What are they like to deal with?

Cheers

try getting a diablo cam or a dragon cam for your satellite receiver, either will suffice for your needs

Yes I have ordered from them many times, as I believe many members of this site also did, and not hade any problems whatsoever.

#23
Anyone have an idea if this would allow me to attach a serial cable CPen 600 to a Mac? I guess the question is would the Mac see the CPen as a drive/storage.

#25
I've been meaning to get one of these, this is about 10% the price of the last one I saw! Hot hot hot.

(It's not on the linked page, but you can just put the description in the search box)

id be able to get setanta on eurovox?

yep, every channel that your cable operator broadcasts - all sport, movies, asian, softcore but not on-demand services obviously...
#28
as another member said you can connect this up to anything that has a 232 port, but i think starview, the box, ect all us null modem.

you'll be able to connect fine but communicating with it is another thing, these things often dont work so therefore require a true serial port but for£2.30 you aint got much to loose if it doesnt work.

Not necessarily. the box really need pure rs232, so most of them are not going to win.

you get plenty of boxes which you can programme and hook it up to hotbirds and receive most of them
#35
for all the people who wonder what you will get on Eurovox than check the VM site for thee channel listing. whatever you can see on the website you can watch it.

oh almost forgot to tell you, the above information was just for educational purpose and by watching the channels I believe that you have paid for the service :w00t:

hi m8
i don't have a relook but i do understand what you want to do
a lot of laptops now have no serial port so therefore this type of device is used remember you will need the appropriate cable from this adaptor to your relook

i use one of these to connect from laptop to samsung receiver
but i must say not all of them work i tried two before i got one that was ok

its a damn good price for a PL2303 chipset - i paid about twice that from ebay hong kong for a similar device, and about 12ukp for one with an FTDI chipset from a uk retailer. i'd buy this if i didn't already have two.

either chipset will work out of the box with linux - no drivers required.
#38
nice 1 buddie
#39
Thanks, ordered one so I can hook my GPS up to my laptop which has no Serial port, not sure if it will work but for £2.30 it doesn't really matter.
