Sounds like a great idea, wonder how long they last on a charge though? Is their any ratings on them ?
#3
Firebox give the following info for power rating:

* 5 hour charge via USB or in appoved Ni-MH charger.
* 1.2V 1300mAh.

So probably not the best for digi cameras but spot on for remotes / wireless controllers :)
#4
Still this is a pretty cool battery to have lol. Was actually on five's The Gadget Show the other week :)
#5
Very interesting gadget Edi! Never seen those before :)
#6
Me either, there quite impressive :)
#7
Seen these before [probably from the same place], but they're a great idea and would make an ideal gift :) Thanks edi ;-)

Don't forget 10% off via quidco, bringing the price down even more to £6.21 a pack*

* Firebox are 10% off the total value not 10% off the pre-vat value right?
#9
Thanks Repo for the reminder :)
#10
how many's in a pack?? i assume 1??
#11
Yeah, I think it's just one - nice idea but very expensive especially given the comparatively low capacity.

Yeah a bit expensive for one, but it's usefulness comes from being chargeable from a USB port and handy for keeping with your laptop for instance.
[mod]#13
Nice find edi  Never heard of these before .. great idea!
#14
It says on their website - £12.95 for a twin pack
#15
hmmm i reckon we should see if it catches on and prices drop a bit... i reckon it'd be good to have like 4 or 6, and have two charging whilst the other two could be in my wireless keyboard/mouse - they can be pretty draining but it's a bit of a sting in the tail at this price!
#16
Yes, price will come down likely with time , but to buy them in UK or US without delivery price, check out www.usbcell.com or recent reviews at http://www.usbcell.com/pr/6

not really that good unless you use quidco

official site showing as Price: £10.99 (Free delivery, price includes VAT)

Might be good to use in the Wii Controller. Then just charge them up using the Wii itself.

Sorry to rain on the parade but these are just a gimmick, tested them out a while ago 5 hour charge is more like 8, 1300Mah is very low and if you use them in anything more than a remote control they are worse than useless, may get you out of trouble if your away somewhere but else dont bother.

These things have been around for years, and are still the same price they always have been.

Wouldnt bother at this price, you can buy a pack of 24 alkaline and still have plenty of change left over. Saves even bothering with charging and they'd probably outlast these too both on individual charges and lifetime.

This thread is 1 year and 4 months old :p

Its a nice idea but these are 1300mah, you can get batteries for slightly cheaper that are rated 2700mah.

This a good deal for items that dont get too much use though. Things like cameras and Wii remotes will be better suited for 2000+mah.

You can buy a plug in charger for £1 and 2x rechargeable batteries for £1 at your local pound shop,i bought 2 sets over 2 years ago and they are still working fine , price tag on these is ridiculously high for what they are considering you have to have another device turned on for 5-8 hours to charge them ie laptop or pc why not use a cheapo 1 hour charger ( again £1 ) , gimmick that at the end of the day is completely useless in everyday life.
#26
or you could buy them direct from the company who make them, cheaper! heres the link:

Somebody already found them cheaper, £9.00 delivered.

Had these for about 8 months so can comment from experience.

Very useful for tricky situations or to charge at work etc.
Charge is pretty poor, in my wii remotes they last a couple hours per charge maximum.
Pretty slow to charge and the LED doesn't always indicate when fully charged.
Too bulky to charge more than 1 in my wii but should be good for ps3 / xbox360.

I think these would work well in things such as non-heavy use camera's, remotes, non-heavy use gaming controllers.

These are expensive for what you get but the novelty of them is fun for a while.

Hope this helps you make up your mind about buying.
banned#29
if you put them in the xbox 360 controller they will probably get stuck in the battery pack well the cap would
#30
I think it's nothing more than a gimmick, I'ts got a lot of heat but I'd rather get some 2700MAh batteries and charge then in 15 mins using my charger!

Theses will just take up my USB ports.
#31
While these are a great idea, at just 1300ma, they're pretty useless and, considering the power rating vs price, bloody expensive.
#32
Cool. How long do they go for?
#33
I bought these from Maplin high street store in Croydon for 7pounds, they seemed like a great idea but as other people have said they are a bit low powered. I wanted them for my Psion handheld computer but they don` last very long (20mins) but this could be because the Psion cuts out at low voltages ie <1.2V per cell.

On the up side they do power my LED torch very well and are very easy to charge.

Hope this helps somebody.
