Looking at this teardown video I'm going to say this will not fit your laptop as there is no mSata\M.2 slot of the required size\spec.

The one spare slot that you can see at 4:41 in the video is designed for a WAN card if I remember correctly

Which is actually a bonus as generally a large slot will be able to take the smaller ones (by moving the standoff screw), but the reverse is not possible.
For instance, this would fit the HP Elitebooks 820 and 840 G2 (G1 only takes 2240 was very stupid of HP) whereas a 2280 would not.

mSATA and M.2 are in no way comparable.
A Sandy Bridge laptop is never (AFAIK) going to to have M.2 slot as they only came later. AFAIK, I think it was Dell whose Latitude SB and IB laptops didn't have SATA connected to their mSATA slots so even an mSATA drive won't work. See for instance:

BTW, for business laptops rather some random poster on youtube, they generally have a repair manual.
