news servers like this used to be awesome and worth paying for, but ever since Virgin Media throttled p2p and newsgroup traffic its just not worth it however cheap it is now.

Hello, has anyone managed to get a client plugin for ReadyNas duo to download material from newsgroups? Similar to the bittorrent client and Transmission plugin for the readynas duo. Thanks.

Virgin is restricted, I'm with o2 broadband, line is suppose to be 10Mb and I use AltBinz as a reader and get download speeds of 1.8Mb/s so its bloody fast. A 700Mb file takes around 7 minutes.

Never heard of ReadyNas mate.

what nonsense. even when throttled on the lowest package its still 2.5mbps

I easily DL about 5GB a day no problems.

SSL bypasses the throttle by Virgin. Connect to secure.usenetserver.com and use the port 563. Works for me.
#13
Not quiet for me. I use AstraWeb SSL on 563 and get trottled.

Thanks for this. I've just cancelled my $40 per quarter account I've had for years and rejoined :)
