Here's the blurb:
Tanita UV-Smart is a little gadget (10cm x 5cm) for measuring UVA and UVB rays individually to give you an idea of what level of sun protection you need.
Tanita UV-A/B Monitor uses simple-to-use toggle button to switch between detecting either UV-A rays or UV-B rays, which are linked to sunburn, accelerated skin aging, and skin cancer.
Know Your Risk of Sun Exposure
Measures both UVA and UVB rays
Use year-round to track your risk of sun damage
Track exposure time with digital clock
Convenient size makes it easy to carry anywhere
Over exposure to the sun's ultraviolet rays can cause skin damage. UVB causes the familiar sunburn and is also related to skin cancer and cataracts, while UVA is linked to accelerated skin aging, liver spots and freckles. You can't always see or feel the harmful rays. UV-Smart measures both UVA and UVB rays so no matter what the weather or season, you can tell if you should apply sunscreen or get out of the sun.
I think this particular item may now be discontinued, hence the discount, but I know for a fact that they did sell for up to £25 (as I know somebody with a skin condition who bought one for upwards of £20 a year or two ago.)
It would be particularly useful for those with small children too.
Hopefully your local store has some in stock, and you find this particular 'tip' useful?
