"V for Vendetta" - the inspiration for the controversial movie smash hit - is one of the accomplishments that cemented Alan Moore's reputation as comics' foremost writer, and now returns in a stunning new edition.Originally published in 1990, "V for Vendetta" is a frightening and powerful story about the loss of freedom and individuality set in a totalitarian England. Written against a background of third-term Thatcherism and tabloid rants against minorities, this is a work of startling clarity...everything that comics weren't supposed to be.It is a terrifying portrait of resistance and the power of the individual. Superbly illustrated by artist David Lloyd (Kickback), this edition includes early sketches and art by Lloyd.

Good call, been meaning to get this for a long time. Moore is fantastic!! Hopefully will be meeting Neil Gaiman during the Edinburgh Book Festival in August. Heat Applied.

while this is a good deal, alan moore has a fantastic amount of quality work to choose from. I suggest joining a library and getting some of it out.

I have the original comic of V4v in my collection so wont get this but its HOT
Just started rereading the old swampthing tradepaperbacks, currently on love and death which is more enjoyable and less dated in some aspects.

Liked the film myself but the book is a lot more full on and goes a lot more in depth to the story.

Still a cracking buy

one of my fave films

assume alan was in the northampton HMV?
when i worked in the GC iam sure he used to pop into sainsburys, never wanted to bother him but i think he is a decent guy from videos and interviews i have seen.
Would prob be a bit less starstruck some 18 years later than then, so I would love to ask him to sign a watchman or something. Alwarys wondered how he would react based on the endless rows with DC or filmakers, but imagine he appreciates the fans and not the system.

I would be asking him to get on with the next issue of Big Numbers though :?

Will back this up, I got one for my daughter from the very same shop on Saturday for £3.99! I would have thought you would have spotted this in your local Works Andy? Anyway she hasn't been able to put it down since and I read the first chapter and though it was good. May well finish it as I have the film on HD DVD that I've not watched yet so will follow up with that.

excellent film how right they were about britain today "there is something wrong with this country isnt there?"...
"governments should be afraid of its people not people afraid of its government"...."remember remember the 5th of november".....

Great artwork, though i couldn't get into the film. Moore was playing himself in an episode of the Simpsons the other day - dreadful, dreadful acting, really woeful. Fortunately, he doesn't need to give up the day job.

I also wondered if it was Nationwide after I picked one up for £3..99 at the Wolverhampton branch. It's not the 2009 version though, as it has a different ISBN no. Still a fairly recent copy, mind, as it also has the words Now a Major Motion Picture on the front cover.

C for continue with your crusade of short unuseful derogatory comments about films/books you personally don't like and maybe an M for Moderator will explain why those kind of comments don't help anyone and may contribute to less people posting deals.

Cheers.
