If you are looking to take a cable contract this could be worth a go.

HD cable box and Installation has been reduced to £75. (Go through quidco for £65 cashback.)

V+ Service
Pause, rewind and record live TV
Record 2 shows while watching a third one!
Get access to digital TV channels, on-demand films and TV shows
Got a HD Ready TV? V+ lets you watch stuff in crystal-clear HD

Worth a look i think.

i phoned up about this as i already have the phone and broadband with them and they told me if i had the basic box i would have to pay £30 installation but £75 for the v+ so was well worth ordering.

Voted cold. Can't get Sky Sports HD on Virgin, so not worth it.

My folks have a V+ HD box (after a regular Tivo PVR and a Freeview HD PVR) and it does very well at 1080i driving a full1080p 42" TV ie standard channels generally well delivered, and ability to record 2 progs at once is good. Have to agree though that the dearth of HD content on Virgin (ie typically the host of Sky HD channels) is a major minus.

Right. been thinking about this, But, I'm an existing customer.
I went through the process of upgrading my package but couldn't just add to the basket. I will be surprised if it tracks through quidco as my order will just be added onto next months bill. Anybody have any idea of using quidco for the V+?

It is if you don't have an HD TV (not all of us do you know). You also get Setanta with Virgin.

You also get Setanta and V1 with Virgin, so thats some compensation. Agreed there is not much HD at the moment, but not all of us are lucky enough to have a high def TV yet, :x

I am with Sky but wouldn't transfer to Virgin purely because you cant get Sky One.

Not voted cold though, as its a good deal

i'm in the same boat..... why do we need to pay £30 for installation?

Only one place to go for hd tv, sky, virgin has very little content whereas sky have 17 hd channels and more in the pipeline and can be had for as little as £99 plus installation for new customers, although if its virgin you want deal seems pretty good especially for their cable broadband service.

Lost on Demand! In HD aswell fair enough Virgin may not have Some sky channels but it does have on demand that has some HD things on there, Lost along with others is there and content is always getting updated.

On demand is really good, they are getting the BBC's iplayer on there soon as well.

i got the v+ box last month for £75 installed, tho they forgot too leave me a hdmi cable  its not bad, bit slow at changing channels sometimes but on demand & recording 2 things at once is great

I called them up and for me they didnt add it to my bill but wanted me to pay over the phone on my credit card for it, may do the same for you to.

Pretty good deal, but The Gadget Show last night was reviewing the Sky box and Virgin+ box looking at their PVR features, and concluded Sky was much better. Virgin+ box isn't the simplest to use, menus are slow to load, and the unit itself doesn't appear very reliable

I've had both HD boxes and agree with Silverwolf. Sky HD is 10 times better than V+

Sky has the best user interface agreed....... that was no surprise that it won

Personally prefer to download my HD content and watch it on my media centre

i dont know, but then again sky wanted to charge me £55 to plug my telephone connection back in when i said i couldnt do it that day. think its just a way to make a bit of extra money as i already have the cables from when i was with virgin 18 months ago. you could try arguing that as a current customer it would be good customer relations to forgo the charge? as i wanted the v+ box i wasnt bothered about that as it made the v+ box sound better value hehe.

i am not getting rid of my sky+ box just going to use video sender to use it in sons bedroom as it would cost me money to have extra cable attached to be able to use it upstairs and it means i can still have sky channels and its effectively multiroom for not much more than it would cost me normally:)
