Aliens with nice faces and reptilian habits descend over the earth bringing a new and menacing world order with them in this landmark television miniseries. Sixty-five million viewers reportedly viewed the original broadcast. Disguised to look just like humans, the aliens are actually lizard-like creatures out to strip the planet of its water supply and turn humans into food. Although most people are fooled by the visitors and allow the planet to be taken over by the fascist monsters, a group of resistance fighters try to defeat these creatures. Helping the underground movement is a journalist (Marc Singer) who figures out just what the aliens are up to. The story concludes in V: THE FINAL BATTLE.

Ok I remember this and was up for it until I did a little research.

According to this:

http://thevisitors.info/intro.html

the original mini-series was 4 hours long so this must be cut to beggery to come in at 180 mins:?

This has just been made into a new series, got the 1st from the states but not had chance to watch it yet.

save your bandwidth. its awful and only 4 eps have been filmed cos they want to see viewing figures before recommencing filming.

Yeah - I agree. Watched the first two and fell asleep.

Lizards disguised as humans intent on taking over the world, infiltrating society at all levels..now where have we heard that before..

(and I don't mean the original series from back years ago..this being a remake).

It's about as bad or good as Stargate *anything*

It's pretty bad, the editing is hilarious. I'm going to give episode 3 a go and call it a day.

Ive not seen it yet but I thought it was getting rave reviews in the US? I read somewhere that it pulled in something like 14 million viewers for the 1st episode which was the biggest launch since Lost!

Definitely. I remember a scene where the cell leader said he was going to inject everyone with a local anaesthetic and carve everybody's head to prove they're human.. and then all of a sudden, he says everyone at the meeting is human - no injection, no cutting.. WTF?!

loved V - great deal - thanks

The new one is FANTASTIC. I highly recommend it!
I'm quite interested in seeing the original as well now.

That's the scene that really stood out but the whole thing moves at such a strange pace, often rapidly accelerating through potential storylines as if it has lost interest (it was the fixed version too, in case anyone is wondering).

Watched the pilot of the original and the helicopter chase blew the cheap special effects of the new one out the water.

Each to their own, its looking likely its more of a success than the ill fated Bionic Woman remake.

Have to say I loved this as a kid, hope the new one is just as good :whistling:

good price :-D

Wished they'd get one with a new series of "Braking Bad" instead :-)
#16
The new version of V is full of political overtones, characters that don't make sense and editing (as mbeeching pointed out) done on a roller coaster. I'm not downloading anymore as it's dire and I'm not surprised they've only made 4.

They don't make like they used to.

Breaking Bad will return in the new year, far and away the best programme on TV

Seems like i've been waiting forever.

Loved the orginal as a nipper, can remember watching it late at night, was always on late? lol

New series so far is okay, not the same without the Visitors red uniforms and laser guns though :)

David Icke! :-D

I didn't think the remake was as bad as Flash Forward is.
#20
Don't get me started on Flash Forward! lol. What with Dollhouse being put on hold, Heroes taking it's sweet time over the tedious carnival story line, and the new SG being absolute pants, I was hoping that the new V would be good. :(
#21
Is there any more sci-fi on tv to watch so I know my options?
#22
the remake of the prisoner is seriously pooh and v remake managed to waste 20 mins of my life on that p.o.s.
lotta cancelled tv looks like
at least cyo is on top form LD ROX

+1 FOR BREAKING BAD

whinge, whinge, whinge, whinge, whinge... what the heck is happening to this site? seems most people only post to complain about something (and yes is I see the irony in saying that in this post)

surely complaints/opinions/whiiiining about TV Shows is more appraopriate over on the IMDB.com forums; home of the kings of complaint.

I swear if people think things are SO bad on tv these days then instead of whining about it on forums on the internet why dont they put their brains and time to more productive use and attempt to write something better. if they know what 'should' be on telly and what good entertainment is then please show the rest of us. the ones that I guess must be dumb enough to actually enjoy some of the current shows. yes, like myself.

anyways, apologies, no offence, 'tis my first post but I just got annoyed at all the constant negativity.

and of course the most important part, thanks to the OP. great deal, great show.
h&r dude,
oz

ps. apologies again, I'm actually a nice fella ;)

I don't care if you're male, female or something inbetween ... can you cook? Because if I saw those words on a dating site I'd be in lurve :p

So what if I have been married for 18 years?! My Mrs doesn't know the difference between a Galaxy class ship and a Battlestar. Tsk. Some women!

And ozbozz, any mention of a film / TV show, especially a remake, is bound to evoke comments both good and bad!

Im quite liking the new series im too young to remember the first one though heard good things,

Fair do, which is why if you go here http://davidlavery.net/ESR/ESR_TOC.htmyou will see that a certain person called Carl Wilson (me!) has written a chapter on The Sopranos, go here http://worldcinemadirectory.org/ in a couple of months and you will see 8 essays written by me on contemporary indie film, go here http://www.scope.nottingham.ac.uk/ when the next journal is out and you will find film book reviews and a conference report by me, and if you attended one of several international conferences on film and TV last year or will do this year then you will be able to find out what I think "'should' be on telly and what good entertainment is".

So there. :p

Well I've seen the first 2 eps of the new V series and so far like it a lot. But then I'm also disappointed Dollhouse has been axed so there's no accounting for taste!
#32
How have you watched the new series? Is it on UK TV?

The way most tech savvy people get to see new shows like this here amongst many others is to download them, via the bittorrent networks.

V is screened in the US on Tuesday evenings, so by about 3-4am Wednesdays GMT the shows are encoded to DivX and distributed across the bittorrent networks, people then download them, and either stream them via their multimedia networks, or save the DivX file to their memory cards/USB Sticks and played back on their DivX compatible DVD players/Xbox 360s/PS3s

Frankly after that 'big up myself' post I couldn't care less what you think!

Don't blame you, most people don't care! I was only trying to point out that by being negative on everyone by assuming that HotUKDeals users don't have a life outside whinging on web threads is a bit insulting!
