Received a link to this in the latest Spring offers email from Amazon, it's not in stock at the moment but you can still order it.

Game Description:
Valkyria Chronicles is set in a fictitious continent reminiscent of 1930s Europe - divided in two and ruled by the Empire and the Federation. The Empire has set its sights on invading a small neutral country called Gallia, which is situated in the middle of the two great empires. The game follows a hero named Welkin and his fellow soldiers of the Federations 7th Platoon as they engage in a series of epic battles.

Built upon the new "CANVAS" engine, developed internally by SEGA Game Studios Japan, Valkyria Chronicles stunning 3D graphics resemble a watercolor painting in motion, taking full advantage of the processing capabilities of the PLAYSTATION 3. The power of the PLAYSTATION 3 also allows the development team to exploit the full potential of this new engine, giving players many different stunning environments to explore. A new type of tactical battle mechanic has been specifically designed for Valkyria Chronicles. Known as "BLiTZ," this gives players freedom to strategically move around the environment and attack enemies using real-time controls, something never before seen in the tactical role-playing game genre. The new "CANVAS" engine technology, the "BLiTZ" battle concept and an epic storyline offers players hours of exciting gameplay.

I've been meaning to get this for a while now and at the price I'm not going to turn it down.

Won't get a chance to play it in the meanwhile due to exams anyway

(Now if only I could find a new copy of Folklore at a decent price)

I normally hate turn based games, but something about this game just makes the turn based gameplay feel so good. Gfx are really nice and unique also.

Very hot deal

WOW amazing price, one of my fav games and best on PS3 imo

Everyone says this game is amazing, could someone please give me some advice.

I HATE strategy RPGs and I didn't like the VC demo. The only SRPG I like is Jeanne D'Arc on PSP, in fact it is probably the best game I've ever played on PSP (and i have played a lot).

Is Valkyria Chronicles that good? Will I like it?

I don't play strategy RPGs. The only one I've ever played was Advance Wars on the gameboy (one of the finest games ever made), but that was basically chess in another form.

This game is quite different. It's an action based strategy game. You actually do the shooting, the bomb throwing etc then the computer has it's turn. It is not too challenging once you get to grips with it, anyone can play it. It is one of the best games on the PS3 imo. The graphics are gorgeous.

Seriously hot at this price. This game took a very long time to lose value and it's not stocked in most places. Get it while you can!

The DLC for this game is on offer at the moment - all episodes are £1.99 until April 29th - best two are supposed to be Challenge of Edy and Selvaria's Mission.

I personally think this game is one of the best games on PS3 - I wasn't that taken with the demo either, but loved the full game.

Actually its not now £17.00, just looked and over on the right hand side of the screen is the Amazon price of £13.97, it is out of stock and another supplier is £17.

This needs to be unexpired. It is still available to order at the stated price (£13.97)
#13
Definitely worth the money. One of the most graphically distinctive games I've ever played. Not without its flaws, but I very much enjoyed it.

Seems strange that the more expensive version is "in stock" and the cheaper one "out of stock" - what are teh chances it will be back in stock at the lower price if they won't sell their current stock at that price?

Well done Cuddy - can't make it much clearer than that! ;-)

ohh thanks for reminding me. I completed the game when DLC was announced and totally forgot about buying the extra missions. I think i'll do it before it's discontinued! I can see this as one of those games that i'll go back to in a couple of years time (kinda like the greatest game ever: Shenmue :))
#24
been toying with buying this for a year or 2

Today's the last day to get the DLC cheap, I recommend Selvaria's pack (4 missions) and Challenges of the Edy Detachment (6 missions)
#26
It is in stock at Zavvi for 14.95 .
#27
It is one of the best ps3 game out there, even thoughvthe release was in 2008. It was also one of the hardest games I have ever obtained, but was/is worth every penny. Everyone should give this at least a chance.

Hmmm, I thought the demo was boring, would the full game change my mind? Whats the full game going to give that the demo didn't show? I must admit I always heard great things about this but played the demo and thought, hmmmmm..

Started playing this over the weekend and its stunning.

But the lack of an autosave function! what were they thinking! And the chapters, do you want to continue, YES I CLICKED IT!! before every 10 second video! And there are many...

The computer shoots you while its your go! so the main task is to end the turn asap so you dont get ganked.

But I love it lol for all the failings

The lack of autosave is absolutely criminal in this day and age, but in the context of the game as a whole, it is forgivable.

You might find Yahtzee's review of the game quite funny - he rants about the lack of autosave and the constant clicking - "Do you want to continue?" "Are you sure you want to save?" "Are you absolutely certain you want to go to the barracks?" etc etc.................

I really like the story in Valkyria as it has got some great characters in the game I think the best part about the game is the art style it looks fantastic. I'm not a fan of strategy games but Valkyria Chronicles is good it's a bit of a shame it lacked in sales Sega should have promoted the game more. I got it from Toys R Us for about £14.99 about 3 weeks ago. At this price for £13.97 it's worth checking out I'm glad I have this game in my PS3 game collection. It's a bit of a shame that Valkyria Chronicles 2 is only on the PSP.

I found the cut scenes incredibly annoying, especially because I'm not particularly an anime fan either. Melodrama gets on my nuts, particulary cartoon characters that look like teenagers yet operate military gear! Despite this, the game got better and better it was quite special overall. In short, if someone like me can get over it I think just about anyone can enjoy this game.

I heard rumours a few months ago that a sequel would be made (sadly not on PS3?!). If they can add more environments and make the AI a little more consistent, it would be awesome.

If you didn't like the whole set-up of the game then it's not for you. Things do get more exciting and complicated as the story progresses but the 'rules', 'chess pieces' and 'chessboard' aren't going to change between the demo and the full game.

Also, whoops about the expiry date on the DLC offer  still, if you like the game then get those 2 because in a month they'll be nearly double again.
