I have never seen such a good price for such a massive block of cheese before. Cathedral City is often £3.50 for 350G (£10.00/kg), so this Lidl substitute (which tastes very similar) is far better value at the equivalent of £2.40 per kilogram.

It's one of their weekend deals. Be back up to the usual price tomorrow. Still good value at that price (£3.49 I think)

Lidl appear to be restarting their weekend offers. This week it was 24 packets of crisps for 99p, this cheese and some dog food. Next weekend it will be anti wrinkle cream, washing liquitabs and orange juice. The reduced prices are only for the saturday and Sunday then they go back up to the usual price. It can be a case of the quick and the dead though, there was no cheese left in any of my locals.

Was in my local lidl today 3.30pm and they had the 24pk crisps stacked up high, loads of them and also almost an entire shelf full of the cheese. Great cheese, I have been buying it at £3.49 per pack.

Bought yesterday at 9:30am but there were only a few packs left on the shelf. Amazing price. Guess I'll be eating cheese on toast for the next month!

I got three yesterday, lovely bit of cheese

Went in 2 Lidl's on Saturday and neither had stock. They all must have gone in the first hour. I'm surprised their Facebook page isn't filled with complaints. 5 cases per store is not going to last long!

Posts #15 and #16..... Hmmm, I think I see the "problem" :D

There are queues at my local Lidl on most Saturday and Sunday mornings. It's mega busy throughout the day as well. I don't bother going unless I really want something, I choose a quiet time in the week to do the normal shopping. But to blame Lidl for their own success is a bit misplaced. This is their business model, they have some really decent deals, but everyone knows and has to be prepared to make a special trip at the start of the day to guarantee them.

I was surprised to see huge stocks of orange juice which was on half price in 2 stores on Saturday evening which generally run out early in morning. This can be that people have dramatically reduced their orange juice intake or the stores have stocked massive quantities - I felt it was the latter. Few months when they did the XXL deal on orange juice, my store had a quota of only 1 box of 6 bottles each day oO

In our Lidl they have some where the cheese usually is, but also at the end of the chilled isle there is a section for offers and promotional items and most ppl forget to check there.

I bought 2 blocks.. went in about 3 weeks. Should have bought more.

The cheese itself is very inconsistent. It's either your generic cheap soft slightly mature cheddar, or it's hard, pale, very strong and a bit crumbly cheese that's basically what their 'extra' mature is.
