I've been looking for a large tent for ages and have waited for the post-summer sales to see what drops in price the most. This is the best deal by far (I think) and it's a Vango so comes with 2 year warranty (extendable to 3 years if you register it on Vango's website).

If you want a matching porch, Vango are selling two sizes of last year's models (in matching Epsom Green colour) on their eBay shop at reduced prices. £79.99 for 240cm wide and £89.99 for 345cm wide. They're called Universal Premium Side Awning Canopy.

For the price it's great, exclusive to Amazon though and is just below normal Vango specs (toggled groundsheet for instance). HH is still good and will beat most tents at this price point easilyfor quality I would have thought.

I'd be tempted if it wasn't for the fact I'm determined to get an Airbeam when someone drops them (hopefully Edoras 600xl)

Good enough to live in! https://www.tauntonleisure.com/vango-airbeam-edoras-600xl-tent-package-sky-blue-2016/p14706?source=froogle&utm_source=froogle&utm_medium=comparison_shopping_feeds&utm_nooverride=1&gclid=Cj0KEQjw6am-BRCTk4WZhLfd4-oBEiQA3ydA3kRNHSRJml2mIRnZL63oaOv1-0QTRnb0xeOtutruU_kaAgIN8P8HAQ

Says sewn in groundsheet. I believe only the entrances are toggled (so you don't trip).

Now £194.99. It's not particularly clear about the groundsheet as there's a picture that looks to be showing a separate groundsheet but the reviews and Vango's website says it's fully sewn in. Will see for myself when it arrives...
#6
And now £194.76. I'd taken the plunge at £194.99 - How do I claim back my 23p?!
#7
Just a note for people, you'll need a 100m2 pitch for this. Just remember when you book a site.
#8
And now £194.64! I'm massively down!
#9
I went to buy the Odyssey 600 last week at £144 but its price had gone up by £50 overnight. Its now £245. Suggest anyone who wants this gets it asap before they up the price again!

Just bought at £194.61

Mine has just arrived and I can confirm it definitely has a sewn in groundsheet (not got it out fully due to the weather but just checked that). Must be an error on Amazon's listing because the smaller odyssey tents all have separate groundsheets on Vango's website. They probably carried it across to the 800 information.
#11
It's at £193.80. I have been watching it for a while. With extra 5% off I can get for £184.11. Too tempting. The price may go down a bit more, savvy me!

That's not really true compared to the big tents out there. It's hardly a beast.
#13
8 man - presumably four at either end. I'd rather have a T shaped tent with 3 separate rooms.
I want a tent with a flap I can put a pipe through so I can pee into the pipe in the middle of the night. I hate waking up in the middle of the night and having to unzip two compartments, find some shoes and avoid tripping over guy ropes and so on so I can have a wee around the back.

Don't most have a hole for an electric hook up cable? I know a vango does. But why not just use an old bottle or baked bean can?

Must be really long pipe then otherwise all you will be sleeping in your own pee X) I am surprised you not said you want en-suite tent :D

I think you'll find it's accurate. Once you peg the guys out you'll need at least an extra 1m on each side.

We've had sites try & push us on smaller pitches & it doesn't fit!
#17
It's easily a metre narrower than other tents on the market.
#18
now £236.40.
#19
Read this as 'Birth Tent' and thought who would want to give birth in a tent?!?
#20
I've got the Berghaus Air tent delighted with it

I rang up Vango and they said the 240cm wide is what they recommend for the Odyssey 800 because the tent slopes downwards which could mean a wider porch fits less tightly against it.

Someone on the Vango Facebook group has a Stanford 800 (which is the same shape) and said the 345cm porch isn't a perfectly tight fit but was fine and didn't let wind/rain in. The eBay listings say the Stanford 800 is compatible on both.

On that basis I've ordered both but will try the 345cm one as a first choice because I'd much rather have the extra room!

Any chance you could let me know how the 345cm one fits as I have ordered this too but not sure when I will get a chance to try it.

Yeah, I'd be interested in this too. Quite fancy the larger awning for an extra tenner......... but only if it fits! :-)

Sorry I was going to try today on my day off but the forecast is heavy rain this morning now! Will try to remember to post once I can finally try it out.

Right, things dried up enough that I had a go pitching them.

I'm definitely happy with the wider porch - seemed a decent enough fit and I can't see why it would be worse than any other separate porch in the rain (there will always be a bit of leakage at the bottom of the join between the tent and porch). Tight fit along the top and upper sides, even on the part of the tent that slopes down.

The porch isn't particularly deep so I think it really needs the extra width to be worthwhile buying. So I wouldn't bother with the 240cm wide one unless you really just need an outdoor entrance to store a few things.

Great, thanks for your comments chap. I was leaning towards the 240cm awning thinking the 345cm one might be too big but now I am wavering again!! You dont happen to have any pics do you?!
#35
No problem, I'm going away for the weekend soon so really wanted to check things in advance anyway!

Sorry, I didn't take any pictures. You could order both and put up the 345cm one first - if you're happy with that, you don't have to get out the smaller one (or if you've done click and collect to Argos, not even pick it up so it gets sent back to the seller automatically after 7 days without any postage charge).

How did your tent hold up goat123? Did it perform admirably?! i went for the 345cm awning though haven't tested it (or the tent) yet.......

Just letting the dew dry off now before packing up! Couldn't test the waterproofing ability as its been a nice weekend but it's been great. Massive living area and plenty of bedroom space for 5 of us. 345cm porch was fine (as I said previously, it's not very deep but fit with our tent seemed perfect to me). Easy to pitch as its just a big tunnel. Hope you enjoy yours too!

I got a 7m by 3m tarp for £29 from eBay and the Coleman Galileo 8 carpet (which is a similar size to the living area at 275cm by 255cm) is only £31 delivered on eBay.
