I noticed that my local Gamestation must be having some kind of stock clearout because they had a selection of brand new and wrapped HDDVD's for £1.99 in there on Friday.

I can't remember all of the titles but I know they included:

Mr. Bean's Holiday
Red Dragon
Harry Potter
The Game
American Gangster

I have tried to find these on their website but it's so poorly designed that I either can't find them or they're not listed on there at all.

this has been true for a while now, although in Brighton they are never ever sealed....
#2
They weren't sealed copies on the shelf but the guy just took the cases from me and then gave me sealed ones.
#3
they're sealed by Gamestation themselves to save on space in the drawers were they keep the other games etc
#4
saw Daylight for £1.99.... didn't bother buying any though as i still got sealed hd-dvds not watched. Might just sell them on ebay or something....
#5
i got mercury rising, daylight, blood diamond, spartacus, ray, dragonheart, the game, the reaping, out of sight in the sunderland gamestation all 1.99 each not sealed though

yeah i'm considering getting rid of my 360 hd-dvd player. loads of unwatched hd-dvds and the new dashboard update brought with it loads of problems when using the hdmi connection on many hd-dvds.

now is probably a good time to cash in...

i can't play and hd-dvd's through my samsung telly when i've got the hdmi lead in and also the digital out on the normal cable. games work ok but i get a message saying something about the hdcp server (been a while since i tried so can't remember exactly what it says). when i looked into it, it seemed to be something to do with the motherboard in the telly rather than the xbox or the dashboard so your problem may be something similar?

Which films are you after?
Probably a good option for sellers with ebay enforcing free P&P now and fees :x

I noticed the free P&P thing yesterday, was really annoyed! Ebay is rapidly becoming a no go area for sellers! :x

Brilliant. Everyone mentally adjust the heat upward a few degrees to compensate for this genius.

Im selling mine had around 60 discs so I decided to sell them whilst they still have some value

Actually I commend this decision by Ebay to do this, why???

1. there are tight wad sellers out there who think they are being smart by selling high value items for pennies and then charging tens or hundreds of pounds postage to defer any ebay selling and listing fees.
2. If you have a problem with the item the seller is potentially only going to give you a refund on the actual item cost rather than the postage and packing.

Stops cheats and exploitation.

There is a cost involved with sending something in the post and paying ebay fees. I agree that sellers charging extorsionate amounts for postage should be stopped, but it's clear what the charge is before you bid.

I've recently sold some video games, I've been forced to include free postage and I've got no more money for the games because of it. Basically the postage has had to 100% come from my pocket. It's a business not a charity.

Sorry OP this is veering away from topic

I agree with rascoj64, your point is valid XxGunnerxX but surely the onus is on the buyer, if an item is listed with rip-off P&P then just don't bid.
Ebay have introduced this measure just to stop sellers listing an item at a low starting price then charging say the 90p it would cost to post say a game or DVD so that they do not incur a loss. Obviously this tactic is just to ensure that ebay receives the maximum in fees yet they say it is so they can compete with the likes of Play who don't have a shipping cost - Rubbish. :x
#18
Ebay have done it as now fees ae on the whole value. Even a small % of the total p and p in DVDs section must be millions.

The token fool who votes cold for this most stupid of reasons. Voted hot from me as it's cheaper than hiring a HD film so how can it possibly not be a good deal.
#20
Wow, I never actually expected this to gather so much heat.

Ebay didn't actually force me to use free P&P when I sold a HDDVD on there the other day, but I won't be selling any more on there now if they do. It was an old HDDVD which I now have on BD by the way so that's why I sold it, I wasn't trying to cash in on this deal.
#21
Hot deal. Great way to pick up some HD films for cheaper than their SD counterparts! Just don't buy if you plan on selling them all at a later date.
#22
I don't know, I think certain titles will rocket in price eventually dependant upon their rarity, the same thing happened with Laserdisc.

I picked some of these up last week in Merry Hill centre, didn't post though as I thought it someone had already done so - plus it just encourages the 'format is dead' plonkers  For the record I got Spartacus, The game, Mercury Rising and Blood Diamond for £1.99 each. Bargain to me, I still have 2 players capable of playing my collection. Heat + rep to you

p.s. all were sealed too

You can use collection in person as your free shipping option, then add your typical postage as another shipping option. I've bought a couple of cds from ebay this week which were listed in this way.

Good idea, I might have to try that. :)

Hopefully Ebay will stop that as well..

67p for jiffy and 67 to send not £5 . when game elsewhere is £40 and selling on Ebay £27 and £5 postage you don't mind but when game is £7.99 £9.99 elsewhere no deal
#30
Good deal but they tend to only have a very small selection of HD-DVDs instore. It's worth checking out dvdstreet.co.uk for a much bigger variety from about three quid.

An HD-DVD Drive is a decent investment if you pick one up cheap (got mine from gamestation for £20 for the 360) as a lot of HD-DVDs are cheaper than regular DVDs, so it pays for itself over time even if you don't really care about the "HD" prefix...

This has been going for months. It is hot but the titles are limited to poor - average movies, or at least they are in Sheffield now. I do like waterworld though ;D

I wouldn't really call The Game and Backdraft average, they're pretty good films on the whole.

Shame, the same cannot be said for Out of Sight (which they also have by the way) although I have a natural dislike for Jennifer Lopez.
