I was in my local B&Q store today and saw various packs of wooden flooring products at £5 per pack. So I ran home, got the car and picked up enough packs to cover two bedroom floors (Maple and Beech) for the grand total of £50. As I'm in the process of trying to sell my house, I'm hoping this could make the difference.

Of course I still have to get the underlay and trims, plus put it down, but I already feel like a winner. Was talking to a staff member who said they are keeping stock levels low,... just in case the credit crunches.

Marvellous

good luck with the house sale, imho carpets for bedrooms, as it makes the room seem warmer, personally i wouldnt buy a house with laminate flooring, i kwow its easy ti change, but moving house expensive as it is, without having to also buy carpets

Why would the carpets be pish stained?
Could the laminate not also have spillages on it?
Me not understand? If the carpet is new - the laminate is new?

    The carpet is washable?
    The laminate is wipeable?
    All sounds a bit....... :whistling:

The option is wooden floors and a nice rug. I too once believed a thick carpet for the feet was as good as fresh-baked-grandmother-bread, but I have seen the light. I'm now heavily influenced by the Scandinavians and although I think carpets have a place, the amount of c#@p lifted up from wooden floors really makes you think, what might be living in those wool textures.

Carpets should only be seen as shock absorbers for the stairs.

drove about 5 miles to our b and q and they have none, shame that really wanted some too! i dont think you can beat laminate when you have kids,id never go back to carpets after having laminate, and its so easy to keep clean as well, and never stains either.

    Eh??

Anyway, this stuff is alright for a fiver, it usually comes in on special at £10 but its pretty horrible in my opinion. Not bad for doing quick freshen ups for selling or if you rent out.

Particularly with the end of line laminates in places like B&Q, make sure you sit the packs at room temperature for a good spell before starting to lay them. A couple of days at least, possibly a week or so ideally.

In many cases they'll have been sitting in a cold warehouse for months, if not years. There's a chance they'll be warped, and a real nightmare to fit straight out of the packet as a result, so give them time to adjust. This is from someone who laid 90% of a living room and then got to the final corner to find that the last 3 packs apparently in the world of this particular laminate (which was from B&Q) were so badly warped that they met at each end, but were a good half inch apart in the middle.

I found it in the London Leyton branch. Give them a call first as it seems like each B&Q do there own thing.

And as some of you boys know, its good for the cleaning up. After a good Scandinavian night of film watching.

How much square feet does one of these packs cover?

I'm thinking of covering my hall-way and a bedroom.

Went into my loca B&Q and was'nt much impressed with the laminate flooring tbh, its worth spending a bit more money for a really good result. Good for cheap quick fixes if thats what you need tho.

I wont to lay a lama nit floor in living room which is 24 squarer meters, how much would it cost and how much would it cost to have it done for me as I am disabled. Mr Michael Stanley
