i haven't seen any netbooks with the number pad on the side, had 3 different ones so far and not one of them has had the number pad, might be better off getting a small light laptop rather than a netbook, depends how much she wants to spend

i bought a lenovo s12 netbook the other week and i can't say i've missed not having the number pad on the side, i alternate between a full sized laptop and the netbook without problem

saying that i couldn't just have a netbook because sooner or later i will want to use that number pad

as for the currys/pc world stuff on ebay, received a "refurbished" laptop off them yesterday and it's like new even though they sent the wrong one in the box(a newer model so i didn't complain) i would buy from them again

Wouldnt trust either to even honour a 3 month contract. Their bad rep says it all.
#7
Wouldn't touch any of them with a barge poll!
#8
The dell looks more expensive than when I bought it new years ago 0_o
#9
You can buy a usb number pad if that helps above user...
#10
3 month guarantee from the date of purchase. would want 12 months myself and pay a couple of pounds more, ok you may get lucky ,personally would spend a little more and get 12 months
good prices but 3 months aint that long
#11
I've had six refurb laptops from Currys/PC World. All have been exceptionally good quality refurbs, and I'd have no hesitation in recommending this supplier.

Thankyou, so can you get laptops slightly smaller than standard ones? x
#15
Hey, missgem, only large laptops (15 inch+) will come with a dedicated numberpad, so if you're looking for something small you'll also need a usb numberpad.

£100-£120 is about the correct price point for a basic netbook. Buying a refurb does bring with it a slight risk in order to save yourself what can be a lot of money. Bear in mind that under distance selling regulations, you have seven days to return the goods if they are not in good condition or not as described. The seller should pay the return carriage cost, usually by arranging collection at their expense.

I've bought four computers from currys/argos fleabay in the last two years and all have been delivered in a1 condition. In my experience, if there is a large batch of a particular model on offer, the chance is that they'll be new or unused (out of box). Have some heat.

No problems with Currys and PC world on eBay. Have used them several times and always delivered quickly and never had an issue. Once had a question after I'd bought a product and they replied within minutes.

The right to cancel under the Distance Selling Act (with this type of product) is for any reason at all. The goods can be in fine condition and described perfectly and you are still entitled to return it. Unsealing any software might be the only catch but most software that comes with a computer is best ignored anyway.

Agree. I'd only go for a refurb if there is a significant saving to be made. Looking at some of the models on offer with this deal, i believe there is.

Samsung N130 Black Notebook £133.35

Nice little netbook with a keyboard that is usable by humans.

Hot.

you can get very light and portable 15" laptops these days

saveonlaptops.co.uk is a good place to start looking

Got one of the 250Gb PB's. Will give it the wife and hopefully she'll keep her mitts off my MacBook.

I'm still on the lookout for a netbook, could the people that say there's better deals for a few quid more please share here.

I reckon that in most cases 'refurbished' is a total myth. It's just a way of shifting surplus stock and/or returns from 'didn't like it' customers. It often gives the manufactuers or sellers a way of selling the same item at two different price levels.

I've recently bought both a Sony 13" laptop and a Sony digital camera at virtually half price as so-called refurbs (from different suppliers). Both had damaged boxes but the contents were brand new and untouched.

I reckon someone on work experience has the job of messing up the outside boxes so they can be sold as refurbs ...

oredered a acer 521 from ther last night for my son,at the time i ordered the advent milano netbook was only £109,an hour later it had gone to £154.99,the 521 has hdmi output and the amd processor is a lot quicker than the intel ones.
#28
Ordered an acer 533. Hope it is a pristine device and not refurbed as they claim.

Be careful with that, once turned on, computers become a bit of a grey area, I got stung by Argos last year with that

Not so hot deal.

Nothing cheaper than £154.95 and it's an Advent

Next cheapest is £173.05 - not hot at all.

Lol was waiting for that.

Spotted this post when it first went up but didn't comment at the time.

Checked a short time later and there was nothing worth talking about - then came back again today to see if any more had been put up for sale and decided to leave my comment when there wasn't any more :)

I'm still looking for one. I had my ordered cancelled on the n110 deal a week ago and really only want something similar.

I notice there were some Samsungs in this deal.

I kinda liked the N110 too a while back, until I started noticing people mentioning screen problems - which seems to be on most of the Samsung netbook models. Have a look on YouTube for a video and you'll see what I mean.
