20% off and "VAT free" are not the same: If it's VAT free it's more like 16.7% off (_;)

Vat is 20% and has been for over a year ;)

I know that. But not adding the VAT is equivalent to 16.7% off, not 20% off as you (incorrectly) have stated.

20% on the vat free price is 16.7p in the pound

If you have £10. add on 20% (VAT) You end up with £12.. If you then remove 20% from that you'd be deducting £2.40. (Hence why bigsky is correct in saying VAT free is not 20% off) So it's either VAT free.. or 20% off. They are not the same thing. The advert itself is saying that you get 16.67% off. not 20% :)

So the words 'VAT Free' is just basically a advertising method to get people through the door? Nice!
