Vauxhall Cruise Control Fitted Under £67.00!!
Enquired at my local Vauxhall Masterfit (Dalgety Bay, Fife) regarding getting cruise control fitted to my wife's 59 plate Vauxhall Zafira and was amazed this could be done for as little as £67 all in. I was told that the vehicle needed to have a clutch pedal microswitch (likely) and a brake pedal microswitch (definitely) already installed otherwise these would be additional. The cars computer needs programming to tell it to enable the crusie control function.
Also said that on some other models an additional wiring may have to be done at an hours labour cost.
So had it done today and £66.06 later its all fitted and working.
Worth a phone call i think if you want Cruise control. I can post my reciept if anyone wants to see it for part numbers or whatever.s

Jump to unread Post a CommentStill, if you want CC, at £67 it's a good deal.
There is also a blanked off hole for the second row seat charging socket, i bought the parts from vauxhall and fitted this in, total £8.56. Wiring is all there for that too....!
Its probably the same part numbers as the zafira is essentially a tall astra.
Retro-fitting cruise control on my 2007 Focus costs a darned sight more than this, let me tell you!
You would have to enquire about individual models from the actual masterfit. All you are really paying for is the part and 20mins labour or so..The labour was £17 plus vat.. Says it was £59 per hour.
Vauxhall is just a GM brand like Buick, Cadillac, GMC, Chevrolet, Opel, Holden, Daewoo and until recently Saab. The group has also owned many other brands including Lotus at one time and the ridiculous Hummer. To put this in context GM filed for bankruptcy last year and is temporarily owned by the US Treasury. Not sure what that means long term, but in the short term I imagine all dealers are quite highly incentivised to grow turnover and keep the money rolling in. I did notice they are doing some very tempting deals on new cars, and although I never thought I would say this the new Astra looks like a very nice car :-0
Its not just as easy as what you think anymore. Skill helps but not everyone will have access to the Manufacturers Computer system (TEC3 in the case of vauxhall) to activate the CC.
:(
Hot deal
If you have a CDTi, VXR or Easytronic Astra or Zafira you'll have all the wiring you need. You just need a new stalk, and the functions enabling via Tech2. I bought my stalk from eBay, and had it activated at Arnold Clark in Winsford for £30 along with having the radio swapped.
See this post on Astra Owners Network for more info:http://www.astraownersnetwork.co.uk/showthread.php?t=39532
Mine didnt have the wiring running to the ECU, but I found out the correct pins on the internet, wired it myself, bought a clutch switch and stalk, took it to my local vauhall stealer and got them to 'Tech 2' it.
total cost was about £45.
Most newish vauxhall just require the stalk and then enabling on the computer (Tech2)
So true.
The amount of times I've been on cruise control and over-taken people, and then they've speeded up and over-taken me again, then I've over-taken them when they slowed down, then they look at me like I'm mad....then i want to kill them....
I've thought many times of getting a flashing neon sign for the back windows that says things like:
"move over, the middle lane is for over-taking ONLY"
"thanks"
"I hate you and hope you have a miserable life"
"I'm on cruise control, you're the idiot!"
