Vauxhall Cruise Control Fitted Under £67.00!!

sly200sxsly200sx

Enquired at my local Vauxhall Masterfit (Dalgety Bay, Fife) regarding getting cruise control fitted to my wife's 59 plate Vauxhall Zafira and was amazed this could be done for as little as £67 all in. I was told that the vehicle needed to have a clutch pedal microswitch (likely) and a brake pedal microswitch (definitely) already installed otherwise these would be additional. The cars computer needs programming to tell it to enable the crusie control function.
Also said that on some other models an additional wiring may have to be done at an hours labour cost.
So had it done today and £66.06 later its all fitted and working.
Worth a phone call i think if you want Cruise control. I can post my reciept if anyone wants to see it for part numbers or whatever.s

The Zaffys that only need a new indicator stalk and a tech 2 tweak are the diesel versions - not petrol. Petrol ones need the micro switches on the pedals too. You can increase / decrease speed and set and cancel from 3 buttons on the new stalk. A symbol then shows in the dash which is already there.

What other quick mods can be done retro?

I fitted it myself to my 2002 (52) zafira dual fuel.
Mine didnt have the wiring running to the ECU, but I found out the correct pins on the internet, wired it myself, bought a clutch switch and stalk, took it to my local vauhall stealer and got them to 'Tech 2' it.
    total cost was about £45.
Most newish vauxhall just require the stalk and then enabling on the computer (Tech2)

    i am so confused :(

Erm are you sure? Mine is a 59 plate Sri XP and in petrol. All of them will have switch on the brake pedal (activates brake lights!) and perhaps the clutch. I was able to hear the microswitch on the clutch by putting my ear near it and press it ever so slightly. Tech guy said it was a case of checking a few boxes on the tech2 machine to enable it all.....

Its not an offer as such, its just the price of the parts and 20 mins labour. Call your local masterfit places and find out. Its what i did.

You could be right about the brake switch, but the Vauxhall owners forum and garage both said the diesels were just a stalk - that said when the tow bar was fitted the towbar garage said the auxilary relays were fitted in some countries of manufactuer and not in others (Spain v GB?)

Cruise control can be fitted cheaply to any car.......it involves a block of 2" x 2" under the accelerator pedal. :)

my astra convertible has cruise control on it but i dont know how to use it, i dont know how to use the inbuilt sat nav either. i bet they would charge me more than that to show me how? and im not far from the OP's local garage either

Cruise control is so very useful, even on our crowded motorways. Just a bu66er when your slowly overtaking someone who ain't maintaining their speed or when someone overtakes you and then slows down. :( Hot deal
So true. The amount of times I've been on cruise control and over-taken people, and then they've speeded up and over-taken me again, then I've over-taken them when they slowed down, then they look at me like I'm mad....then i want to kill them....I've thought many times of getting a flashing neon sign for the back windows that says things like:"move over, the middle lane is for over-taking ONLY""thanks""I hate you and hope you have a miserable life""I'm on cruise control, you're the idiot!"

Blimey ! The middle lane is for overtaking?

It used to be the outside lane. When did they change that then....?

Have cruise control on my car as standard but never use it. Useless on over crowded british roads.

This is why motorway lessons should be made compulsory. The middle lane has always been for overtaking since they were built. The left lane is for normal driving, the middle lane is for overtaking those in the left lane, the outer lane is for overtaking people who are already overtaking those in the left lane. After you have overtaken, you should then re-position yourself back to the left lane. Motorways would work so much better if it wasn't for "middle lane drivers". When you drive in the middle lane unnecessarily it effectively makes the motorway two lanes rather than three as you can only legally overtake on the right hand side.
