I got one of these last time they were reduced to £40 - would highly recommend this to anyone with pet - picks up hair like there is no tomorrow.

HOT

The extension lead is not the longest; the hose needs to be manually attached to be used and it is indeed cheap feeling but I've been using mine for over 6months and its actually bloody solid!

So impressed I even got my mum to get a VAX on my reviews and she loves it.

Don't bother, they're way too heavy to manoeuvre and use comfortably.

Hot, sooooooo much better than any Dyson, the most overrated, over designed and overpriced piles of crap ever.

wow - thanks, ordered one for my mum as my dad keeps taking their old Vac to pieces and wondering where all the bits are ......

You serious? I have a vax and to be honest im amazed it even got past the design and testing stage.Every time you go to use the hose the vax tips over. Its hit my tv screen, the kids tv and me several times. It blows out more dust than it sucks and it also leaves friction marks in the carpet if left in one spot.
Absolute joke of a product. I had a Dyson for years, brilliant product, tried to save some money by buying this and i guess you get what you pay for. Back to Dyson for me next.

The reason Dysons are, as you say 'over designed' are because cheap bagless machines like this are so badly designed. The root cyclone technology Dyson are always banging on about effectively keeps the majority of the dust in the canister and away from the filter - larger particles in particular - meaning that the filter should only clog up after a good few months of use, and even then it's by no means 'clogged' in the same way that this one will.

This, however, has the filter stuck straight down the middle of the canister where all the fluff, dust, hair, you name it ends up. And what does the filter do? Suck anything and everything straight onto it, meaning after a few uses you have the equivalent of a wooly jumper wrapped round the bit of the vacuum cleaner that provides the suction power. ...which uh, isn't going to do wonders for the suction power, as you can imagine. So naturally, if you want it to actually perform as a vacuum cleaner, you're going to need to clean the filter (as in clean it under a tap as well as de-fluffing it by hand) far more regularly than you should. Depending on what you're hoovering up in it, I'd say after every other use to stop it turning into a giant mess.

...having said that, I do agree that Dysons are overrated and wildly overpriced. And a bit rubbish in certain areas. But ideally you don't want a Vax unless it has 'Mach' scribbled on the side - those are the only ones that actually separate the particles of dust a la Dyson and don't leave you with a hideous mess of a filter to ruin your sink with. And they're not wildly more expensive, either:

Well, I have no complaints - bagged one from Argos Bulwell this morning, 15 minutes of head-scratching and puzzling over the obscure diagrams later and it was up and running and sucking everything up in its path up - years old dust and grime, passing children, a parked car, etc - great suction on this beast.

Made easy work of cat hairs and, more importantly, spilt bird seed/millet from my very messy cockatiel, and transformed two rugs from hopeless dusty messes back to their original patterns. Sure the filter was pretty clogged up after one clean, but it is easily cleaned by banging it against the side of the bin.

£40 for a vacuum that actually sucks stuff up rather than just move it about a bit (Hoover Cyclone, hang your head in shame) is a bargain.

Good looking bit of kit too, and not too heavy.

Miele all the way for me. No other can beat them. Great suction & very hardy & robust.
