Excellent vacuum cleaner. I have the Mach 6 model and paid a lot for it.

Be aware though, that the 6 year guarantee is limited and doesn't include certain parts of the vacuum such as belts.

Good deal.

i also have a mach 6
its awesome
just considering buying this and putting it away

the cheap dyson from asda is a much better deal

dyson is superior to this rubbish
#5
dont knock it till youve tried it
i have dyson upstairs
vax downstairs
vax does better for me on carpets
although the dyson is a great deal :)

I've had 2 Dysons before getting the Mach 6 and I'll never go back to a Dyson now. The Mach 6 is the only vacuum I've found that can handle my cocker spaniel's hair. Great deal.

Actually, the Vax is an excellent vacuum cleaner....

You've been brainwashed by the Dyson advertising and marketing. Pity for you.

I bought this several months back £125 from curry's its a good vac well worth the £100

I have a Mach 7 that I bought from Amazon. It does the job, but I now wish I'd hung on and bought a Dyson instead. Its heavy, constantly gets blocked (and parts need unscrewing to get at), and does a poor job of pick up. Frankly its no dyson.

Looks pretty damn good!

Unfortunately i myself bought a Panasonic MC-E4061RP47 a while back - great vacuum, picks up everything and anything, BUT the filter blocks SOOO quickly which cuts off the suction and you have to clear the filter to continue. Wish i waited a bit and bought this instead (or anything else for that matter) :-(

Edit: Thanks for the info xfield, looks like these bagless all have this filter blocking issue :-D Miele next time for me i think :p

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but flawed, 20 Dec 2008

Vax VZL-6017
I have just bought this after years of Dysons.
It has brilliant suction, an excellent range of accessories and is quieter than the DC04 it replaces. The light seems a bit superfluous, who vacuums in the dark?
However, it has, in my view, two serious design faults.
1 The "Dirt Cup" ie the container which collects the dust and dirt has a pathetic capacity (less than half the DC04) and this is because the electric cord rewind reel just beneath it takes up too much space. Parenthetically, I have never thought spring-loaded cable rewind devices were a great idea, they tend to be heavy and are something else to go wrong.
2 The balance is all wrong. At 10.6 kg the VZL is 2.6kg (nearly 6lbs) heavier than the DC04. This may reflect a sturdier machine but because most of the weight seems to be concentrated in the column which contains the rewind reel, the dirt cup and associated piping the machine is tiring to use for any length of time. The effect is like having a wheelbarrow with too much weight in the barrow.
Overall, I rate it three stars. I think it has some excellent features but could do with a few desgn tweaks.

I have a Mach 7, absolutely horrible in my opinion! Heavy, hard to move, doesn't clean well, poor suction, and in no way compares to the previous Dyson's we had!

Someone above mentioned the warranty and belts (suggests they had a similar experience to us!), and although it has a warranty, many parts like belts aren't included - within 3 months of buying it, a belt broke and we had to order new ones - you can't order them individually, we had to order a pack at £20 + postage. This includes other belts and we were told "you will likely need them", great show of confidence. When we asked why the belt broke so soon (it is used once a week on average!) they suggested long hairs, possibly from pets etc... Except we have the animal version, so surely long hairs shouldn't cause any problems?!? We actually don't have any pets either, so we're still none the wiser...

We now have a problem where the cord rewind system won't keep the cord out - so the cord keeps going back into it! Drives us mad when we are using it. Honestly, although it is built like a tank and far too heavy as a result, the quality just isn't there in my opinion.

Dealing with Vax was a horrible experience. We owned 2 Dyson's previously - we had a couple of problems like everyone I think, but, dealing with them was always pleasant and I don't remember paying for any parts at any time. On one Dyson we were coming to the end of the guarantee and getting a part replace - the nice chap then asked if we had any other issues before the guarantee runs out, we told him the plastic container for the dirt/dust had a small crack in it (wasn't affecting anything) and he sent a new one free of charge!

Would avoid at all cost. Despite being less than a year old, we're hoping to get a Dyson in a sale to replace it. I think Vax are absolutely horrible hoovers and company!

It seems all the positive comments are from those with a Mach 6 and everyone with a Mach 7 has complaints. So one to avoid I think!

I'd say avoid. I have just got rid of mine!

It had constant failures with the height adjustments, went back 3 times before I finally got a refund on it, badly built and shocking factory standard of repair work.

If you want to try something different, try a Bosch Vacuum, they know what they are doing!

Where and how much did you get the Bosch for? Is it a upright or a cylinder?

I've had this vacuum for almost a year and have to say it's really good - it puts up with a lot as I have two dogs! I did only pay £70 for it new though...

have to agree with some of the other coments. it picks up well but tends to loose suction after a while but just beware it is very heavy for a vacum i now a have a cheap hoover model paid about £65.00 its light and i soon wizz around the house

It isn't the filter that has blocked for me - its the wind tunnel head that jams up with dust, its quite a narrow channel. Get some hair stuck in there and the dust soon builds up. The whole thing needs dismantled in order to get at too - a Dyson would be just clipped by comparison (I think they've patented that).

I too concur with the negative comments on the Mach 7

Heavy, damned heavy
Bulb went after 6 mths
Belts worn after 10 months - not covered by warranty (even though legally not fit for purpose)

Did I say it was heavy !!

Dyson's far better quality.
