Seems a good price for a basic bagless vacuum cleaner. :)

You totally CAN go wrong. Don't buy Vax products! I've honestly lost count of how many hoovers I've had to have replaced now. I think I'm on my seventh in about 4 years!

I have always had Dyson Hoover's but couldn't believe how much better my vax was, I wouldn't go back, having said that I had a vax steamer and had nothing but trouble with that.

Don't know why this is not voted hot... it is the cheapest you can find.

Once you go Miele, you don't go back.

You don't go back to Miele because they are cr*p? or you don't go back to anything else?

I thought you might have changed brand at least before your sixth! oO

Miele are awesome and very well engineered. Dyson are adequate, although it's more hype than quality these days. Vax is largely rubbish aside from the carpet cleaners, although it's hit and miss. I've got a VAX cylinder and it's got asthma, emphysema and bronchitis all at the same time. I can snort up more dust than it manages. I find myself going round with a manual carpet sweeper after hoovering.

However, for £40 I'd probably have a punt on this.

Totally agree, a VAX I bought more than 6+ years ago, is STILL going strong, after allllll these years!.

No idea what the warrantee on that thing was at the time? (and it's gone wayyyyyy beyond the year's of Dyson's 5 year warrantee?), and still no hiccups.

Well, so far, so good ..... :-)

Mine is a VAX Cylinder Hoover mind? (the one that hug's the floor) and not an Upright VAX, as per OP's Deal.

The fact that mine is a Cylinder one, MAY be directly linked into the long life-cycle of mine?, as opposed to the alternative ... (from personal experience of various Branded Upright Hoover's over x-years in the past anyway ... )

But, just shy of £40 for a Branded Hoover for a very decent Make, is veryyyy good in my personal opinion?. :-)

That's £20 a year if you can get them to honour the warranty when/if it fails!

Looooool, I think they meant the latter?. :-)

Maybe your VAX has a 'virus'?. oO

It is winter after all?. :p

Why is everyone calling Vax a Hoover? It's like calling a Vauxhall a Ford!

It really is silly, I thought people stopped calling all vacuum cleaners 'hoovers' in the 80's!

I've never owned or used a Hoover but have always called it a hoover, doing the hoovering, hoover that up etc! And I was born in the 80's. ;)

I had a vax, it started off as a fab cleaner but started to lose suction and then broke. I now have a shark which is by far the best I've had!

I had a Vax upright pet vacuum which was plagued with problems - it was sent off for warranty repair several times but was never very good. When I finally decided enough was enough, I did my research and decided that the "bagless" trend was not for me (sick of emptying scruffy dusty containers) and also decided to jump ship to a cylinder vacuum. More research followed and the Miele Cat and Dog was what I chose. It cost me around £160 or so as I recall. I also purchased the extended guarantee taking it from two years up to ten years - this cost an extremely reasonable £20. The HEPA bags work very well and are surprisingly efficient. I now buy non-official bags off eBay for about 50p each or so. Each bag lasts around a month or more of vacuuming which is brilliant considering we are a hairy household (well, our dogs are). The suction is amazing and the vacuum is built to last. We got it 6-7 years ago. Last year, the turbo brush head started playing up and then a small part broke. I got onto Miele and had a brand new replacement head delivered within a couple of days. No issues at all. Service was brilliant. The service with Vax was, at times, like pulling teeth.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Miele, though it is likely to be a decade or more from now.......

Also have a Vax which has suffered problems. The main issue was a very strong burning smell when using on some carpets - however, this was resolved under warranty. Otherwise, the hand held brush-bar failed, was replaced and then that one also failed after a few weeks. Having said that, in my opinion this is still a great deal. I think I paid around £60 for mine about 2 years ago so at £40, it really is a bargain. Hope this helps and thanks OP for the deal.
