I haven't used this particular VAX but I would be inclined to look at it before purchase. I used one recently (and not an old one) and it was absolutely dire, shoddy and ill designed.

I got a Vax a few months ago for £40. It is the same vacuum cleaner we have at work which was from Asda's cheap range (different branding). It is very loud, very very loud!!

I bought a VAX from Argos when the deal was posted here a few weeks ago, and I must say it's sooo disappointing.

Horrible to use, louder than concord taking off [no seriously, I mean this thing is so goddamn loud it's a joke], no onboard usable tools, loses suction on uneven parts of the carpet..all in all a really poor purchase from my point of view. Wish I had paid Dyson the £60 to recondition my old Dyson 01..

I had a pet model a few years back, the animal hair killed it inside 2 years. That said, I didn't pay all that much for it and the powered brush head tool was great. The Hoover I replaced it with (at twice the cost) is now on the way out after (I think) 3 years. The lesson: pet hair kills vaccum cleaners, might as well get the cheap one.
