Don't forget 2% Quidco as well.

May be worth hanging around until Makro have the Bissell Pro Heat Pro Tech. They have these every now and then for £99.99 + VAT. I have one, and it is beeter than a professionally hired machine! I know, I've tried!

Good Buy For A Budget Carpet Washer, 8 Mar 2007
Reviewer: H. Middleton "hughmidd" (Leeds, UK) - See all my reviews

Shop around to get the best price for this machine.

I did a lot of price comparisons etc and decided to go for this model because of the upholstery tool - glad I made that decision in the end because not only is it fantastic on the upholstery (made my 8 - year old grubby armchair arms come up like new - took a bit of elbow grease) - but it is good for the high-traffic areas of carpet. Because we hadn't had the carpets washed for a couple of years they were dreadful (we've just got a puppy too so it has taken care of accident areas). Don't expect this washer to get your carpets spanking clean on the first pass, but persevere and you'll get good results - this is a budget model after all - if you want miracles you'll be paying 300 - 400 quid for a professional model.

Anyway, I have been on my hands and knees using the uphostery tool over the bad areas, and then used the main machine to go over it again and the results are very good. I started off complying with the instructions but found that if you keep the dispenser button pressed all the time the machine cleans better - get the carpet nice and wet, go over a couple of times and when you run out of fresh solution just suck the dirty water out of the carpet.

It seems to be very economical - I am still on the first bottle of solution that came with the machine (you only need a capful per full tank) and I have now done 3 rooms. Plus I've found that asda sell the bottles for under 3 pounds each - good value.

The machine seems sturdy and robust, good suction and the upholstery tool is easy to fit. It took a while to assemble but I'd had a long day at work so maybe that's just me.

No complaints.

That's a very accurate review above posted by Foxy102 :)

Don't let the small price kid you into thinking this is a 'cheap' rubbishy machine, it isn't!

It's a very good machine priced very reasonably, even at the £150ish Dixons/Currys price :)

That depends how long the stain has been there, it's a cleaner not a miracle worker:giggle:

how long it takes to dry?

That depends how wet you make the carpet!:giggle:

If you just use the spray lightly then hoover over it a couple of times the carpet will only be slightly damp when you've finished and fully dry in a couple of hours max - However much solution/water we use we just keep going over it until there is absolutely nothing left to suck up!

You'll notice a difference just by using it once, but the trick is to use it regularly over a period of time so as not to let the build up get too bad - We do all our carpets and rugs on average once a month and it takes approx twice as long as just hoovering (we don't pull the furniture out every time, we just use it as if it were a hoover)

This machine was definitely one of our better buys:thumbsup:

The bissell one spins. It is a seriously good cleaner. One word of advice though, don't let your mates borrow it. You won't get it back!

The trouble I guess is that a spinning brush causes more foam (I know they have anti foaming but they still foam) and you are more likely to drive dirt into the carpet than out ouf it. Especially since you are not going to get the right suction from a domestic machine.

Professional carpet cleaners, the really expensive models not the ones by the exit of B&Q, do have brushes but they cost thousands and are not even worth comparing. Most normal carpet cleaners you can hire, that do an excellent job do not have a moving brush.

I'm going to use this once a month to clear the heavy traffic areas of my carpet and to keep up with my kids who like to spill cola on my carpet on a weekly basis. For that it will be absolutely perfect I am sure.

Just a word of warning for those that purchased it, the one they deliver is not the Pro version you ordered. I looked for the upholstery parts and they are not there.

A phone call to Empire Direct customer services followed, they know about the error and its been put down to a website error. They are coming to collect mine tomorrow and refund me. Although it will be a little wetter than when it arrived.

So not a great deal after all (unless you didn't notice until you'd washed your carpet and went to do the car)

 That's bad!

IMO if they knew about the advertising error they should at least honour the sales already made!:x

They should update their website as well, it's not on really selling something that is a lesser model making people think it is a bargain. I bet some do not even notice.

Anyway i've a clean carpet for my two days inconvenience.
