omg I bought this last week! Wish I waited now! , Excellent hover and an amazing price for it! Very hot!

Check those reviews first. Some vacs tick all the right boxes, but perform very badly in use. The Hoover models of this ilk were a monumental disaster, for example.

+1

I bought a vax about 6 months ago and wish I didn't. unless the filter is completely empty it won't pick anything up. So after every 10 minutes of use I have to empty it out again. :(

Marky can you confirm if the hoover is any good?

A poster is saying their vax hoover filter needs cleaned after every 10 minutes of use to get a decent pick up ??? Reviews on the Argos website are generally excellent for this hoover with a majority of 5 stars.

I've reserved one at my local store to collect today :)

Thank to the OP & heat added

Just reserved cheers!!

I had this hoover and the pick up was ok but not great. It wouldn't pick up any long hair, it got very irritating so got rid!
#12
I dont normally diss deals but i bought a bagless vax, terrible cleaner, ok for the first few months, than lost all its suction, cleaned filters regularly etc etc, instead spent a bit more money and bought a miele, awesome,
#13
I reserved one of these and collected yesterday but the model I received was not the one in the picture but the V-106AA. Features appear to be the same and catalogue number matched but machine looks nothing like the image. Did anyone else find the same.

Seems an okay machine but not sure that all the reviews are actually for the machine supplied by Argos.

Would like to hear from others once received.
#14
just picked this up but its not the model stated
its a vax swift 106 which has got poor reviews

gonna take this back
#15
same happened here

gave me vax swift no way near the decription of the vax vec-11.

will take it back, if they refuse, then i am over confident for court case. as this time customer is right and its thier fault.
#16
me too ,got the swift and immediately got a refund
#17
Anyone recieved the correct one ? I've got one reserved as our previous Vax's hose has split after 4 years of good service.
#18
saved another one at the nearest town and my girlfriend was given the swift model again! not happy and will be speaking to their customer services first thing tomorrow.

No disrespect to Holly100 who posts loads of deals and mainly really good ones. I am amazed anyone buys anything other than Dyson (though no doubt they will have detractors too). Yes they are overpriced - (so wait for a sale and buy gift vouchers off eBay!).

Dyson really do the job - we have had ours for 5 years - no bags, replace filter every once in a while - easy to clean, and serious suction power.

I am going to list mine on eBay in mid December - I know I'll get £20-£30 for it - and put that towards a new one in the Jan sales - another Dyson!

If you're looking to save - buy value range!

No disrepect to you sir, but I am amazed anyone buys anything other than Miele! :-D

They are fair priced, work extremely well are very reliable (Dyson were notorious but have improved a tad) are made in Germany (some Czech), aren't purple and green plastic, and they don't treat their staff like ATMs as James Dyson does.

My girlfriend bought a Dyson so she could see the amount of sh.... the thing was sucking up.. but of course females are irrational. :whistling:

Ask anyone who repairs domestic appliances which THEY would pick Dyson or Miele...

Check this out. I am confused if this is any good or not.

I got one of these yesterday and yes I got given the correct model. Personally I think it's a fantastic little vacuum cleaner. Well worth the money and I'm delighted. Glad I didn't opt for the Argos value range one I was considering beforre this cracking deal came out. P.S. It is not the swift model it is the green VEC-11.
#24
I was offered the swift but said no and swiftly ran out of the shop.

I'll get me coat
#25
o dear! I reserved the last one in my local store...for pickup tommorow. I hope its the right one. WHat is this swift model? a load of rubbish?
#26

Are you keeping it? I mean lets face it....if it had come on here VAX V106AA for £34.25 i would still have purchased it.

Its 1800watt same as the VEC-11. Looks a nicer colour if anything IMHO. so what is the actual major differences? I cant find a great deal online about this V106AA

any help would be greatly appreciated.

those who have got the swift 106 model please check for a label with"DO NOT TAKE this back to the shop" etc..

if u find this label that means the hoover was repaired and was sold as reconditioned which never stated on their website. no brand new hoover would have a label as such.

i had that label and i knew it was repaired hoover as there marks, i took it back got refund.

also there is a major difference in the capacity swfit is 1.3 litre where as vec-11 is 2.8 litre.;-)

Thanks for the info, but I unpacked all mine and I must say it looks brand new. Not a single mark on it.

Well I've just picked mine up.

I had a "Oh, no, here we go" episode in the store.
I had pre-ordered the Vax as there was only one in stock. The item when it came down was a Swift model. Also the box looked like it had been opened at some point. :x
The lady opened it all up and I saw the infamous "DO NOT TAKE THIS BACK TO THE SHOP" ticket inside.
I rejected this as I said it was the wrong model and the assistant went to see if there were any others in stock.
Fortunately a new one had arrived and joy of joys its the vec-11.
Box looked new and unopened.
Got it home. All looks great and it looks brand new.
However I have noticed I also have a "DO NOT TAKE THIS BACK TO THE SHOP" ticket with this.
So I guess this means its a refurb :?

If the unit works OK I'll keep it. I am concerned that Argos are pulling the wool over peoples eyes here. Surely they can't sell refurb units as new - with absolutely no indication thats they are refurb, can they??

There was nothing on either the web site to say this, and nothing at the time of purchase.
Neither was there any indication that they were substituting vec-11's for SWIFTs.

Got one today after 3 failed attempts :-D

I've checked with Vax and they've told me that all their machines have this label on them from the factory, it does NOT mean they are re-conditioned.

The label tells you to phone the Vax Helpline if you have a problem with the machine, rather than taking it back to where you bought it, because it's covered by their RTB guarantee for the first year. If they can't fix the problem over the phone Vax send a courier to pick it up and fix or replace it for free, which is a lot less hassle than having to take it back to Argos.
