I got this for £84.00 on the VAX Sale - best money ever spent, but the price has gone up to its original price.

Go cordless, its awesome, even the kids fight over it to vacuum the house.

Seems like the trolls ScorchingHot and IWOOTN don't actually know why they think Vax products crap!!

Taken delivery of the Dynamo Power Cordless and the Steam Fresh Combi Classic, saved £85 on the current Amazon price, and they're both great pieces of kit that perform really well. Just gone back and bought the AP03 Air Purifier, saving another £100!

EDIT: To be fair, I've just noticed IWOOTN has also posted on the other Vax post, complaining about a machine he/she bought 8 years ago; I'm pretty confident that if it was a manufacturer's fault and not just finger trouble, Vax would have sorted that out by now!!

I bought a top of the range one a few years ago on one of these "deals". Total rubbish. Bought a Shark now for £65 and is in a different league to these or a Dyson.

Quick question but are these reconditioned? I've just had mine delivered and there was cleaning solution in it and the two bottles of cleaning solution that should have been included were missing

I am still waiting for my order of a carpet cleaner to arrive, from last week.

The dog was sick on the carpets the day I ordered and 3 goes of vanish carpet spray cleaner hasn't got rid of the mark so I can't wait for it to arrive!

me to! I ordered on the 1st paid the 4.99 delivery charge and they said I'm expected to receive it on the 12th! nearly 2 weeks for delivery is a joke!

Turns out although it was dispatched today the delivery isn't expected until Wednesday the 12th! That's nearly another week to wait.

My delivery charge is being refunded though, so that's something I guess.

Even MyHermes take about 3 days to deliver these days, I can't fathom why yodel are taking a week oO

I just received an email saying that mine is just preparing for dispatch.

I expected better, plus I think these days when spending over £150, paying an extra £5 delivery should mean expedited delivery not a week+.

The dog vomit stain on my carpet is taunting me X)

I purchased this at a similar price 2 years ago, has done an alright job for me. Had to rely on this hoover for a long time when my expensive Vac stopped working (and before i discovered how easy it is to get a replacement through their warranty service). However, I did get very frustrated at the weekends having to rely on this. It needs to be emptied often otherwise it will clog super easy.
Cold, code does not work!
Voucher code "COMPACTTH-J194" is not valid. :(
doesn't work for me £119
Tried Purchasing, voucher code worked, but went to payment page and the price went back up! Went back to the checkout screen and voucher no longer works :(

Got 2.5kw oil rad from screw fix the other week on offer for £30 doesn't have a timer though and the fan is just a gimmick that uses more electricity anyway.
On a 2500w radiator I don't the extra ~5w consumption to power a fan should worry anyone, just in case it does make a slight difference.
Makes no difference - all of the fan's electricity consumption is eventually turned into heat by friction anyway.
All of it?
Enough of it that would make a measurable difference to your bills, which was the context of mentioning it in the first place. There could be a tiny fraction of a watt of the sound of air movement which leaves the room, rather than being absorbed by the room walls and its contents and then being converted to heat. In other words, the power consumption of the motor in a fan heater is irrelevant to the efficiency of that heater.
Hmm, physics never was a strong point of mine. Isn't most of the energy going into moving the air around? And that isn't converting that kinetic energy to heat... is it? And to be clear, you said "all of the fan's electricity consumption is eventually turned into heat by friction anyway." I am disregarding the fact it's attached to a heater and talking purely about a fan here.
As I say I'm no physics expert, I just don't understand.
Thank you for engaging and discussing this reasonably.

You're right that the fan constantly puts kinetic energy into the air. But given a fixed volume of air in a room, the fact that the it moves at a constant speed rather than getting faster and faster illustrates that energy must be being lost from it at the same rate it is added. This happens due to friction between the gas molecules themselves, and objects in the room. Energy lost to friction is converted to heat, just as brake pads get hot when they are slowing down a vehicle.

If I understand this right.... we all should stay indoor on windy days... or we might get WIND burns ????????????

True. This price is way cheaper to other retailers. Most selling it for £99.

These are quite good but like most other Vax, the problem is they are too harsh on carpets.
They destroyed my carpets by pulling up the upper pile. The one i got next was from Vax but had 2 settings one for low pile and one for high pile carpets. That worked fine when set to high pile. This one does not have that setting unfortunately.
Yes. You have nailed the point here. Most reviewers say that this vacuum is hard on carpet. It's too powerful and destroys carpets. Wish they had a setting to lower the suction power.
Exactly they do have a setting now, but its still not there yet.
Do you know of any vacuum cleaners that are generally good for carpets as i am planning to change mine and will definitely not have the Vax for the new one :)
I have a dyson v6. Very impressed and happy with it Bought it during the black Friday on sale...

Cordless don't compare with corded in the slightest, especially not a Vax.. even at this price! Get a Shark Rocket with a 5 Year Guarantee.
A little pointless suggesting a corded vacuum in place of a cordless one. The whole point of this is that it hasn't got to be plugged in. I'm pretty sure my smartphone would give me more hours if I left it plugged in too. :|

You totally CAN go wrong. Don't buy Vax products! I've honestly lost count of how many hoovers I've had to have replaced now. I think I'm on my seventh in about 4 years!

Why do you keep buying them then?!

Thanks, OP. Just ordered one, cheers. :D
Also have a Vax which has suffered problems. The main issue was a very strong burning smell when using on some carpets - however, this was resolved under warranty. Otherwise, the hand held brush-bar failed, was replaced and then that one also failed after a few weeks. Having said that, in my opinion this is still a great deal. I think I paid around £60 for mine about 2 years ago so at £40, it really is a bargain. Hope this helps and thanks OP for the deal.

have since cancelled order as video and pdf instructions are incorrect.

Vax customer services:

Due to customer feedback, we have changed the floor type recommendation since the user guide was printed. We are currently looking into getting this amended.

I can confirm that this machine should only be used on hard floors and not carpets.
I have a haier one, similar thing but also has mop function (around £100 on eBay). Decent on hard floors, won't vacuum up anything as heavy as a smartie, more for dusting. Whilst it will go on carpets like this one, it doesn't have a roller so won't be any good.

Anyway, raspberry pi, fauxmo, some basic code, a relay and a few wires to the plasticky remote control and you can command it from amazon echo.

Thanks, was interested but can see "Hard Floor cleaning - suitable for hard floors, laminate and tiles only". I still have an old Electrolux Trilobite going strong.

I checked and this is misleading on their website. I found the instructions online ( click here for pdf instructions) and it says its suitable for short pile carpets under 1cm

Comments about loosing suction and having to strip down to remove hair is true - If you've got a dog avoid this, I've just hoovered the house and have emptied it 8 times to do a 2 bed house, that isn't hyperbole either.

I hate to post negative reviews but this cleaner is awful. I have to strip it down constantly to unclog the cyclones of any loose hairs or furballs (for the want of a better description). The suction was great out of the box when new, but now it is awful. Want to change it now a year later. My wife now wants a Henry (God I hope it's the vacuum she is talking about.)

+1
We had an upright vax few years back, obviously different design to this and older, but we were so disappointed with it. Had a dyson on before that which was also a letdown, but they seemed to have improved in recent iterations.
We then bought a George, older brother to the Henry. I think it's been over four years now, and it's still as good at what it does as it was on the day we bought it. They're expensive, but it's definitely proved the saying 'buy cheap, buy twice' for us.

Hopefully they'll be having the cordless lift duo in their Xmas sale soon

Got 1 of these on the vax sale with 2 batteries and I love it great for carpets and good suction really better to get the 2 batteries, definately won't go back to corded vacuum
I paid this for the duo in a recent sale and can honestly say I dont know how I'd manage with just 1 battery. I'd definitely recommend getting the duo version or investing in an extra battery

We'll be needing one of these soon - can you use it directly off the mains like a normal mains powered Vac?
If it's just cordless, then that's no good for us
Just runs off the battery, can't power by mains.
Its good, but when using the pipe part for sofa or round edges you can tell it's not as powerful as a wired full size upright, even with the boost on.

Thanks - no good for us unfortunately. I prefer the corded to cordless. Just a bit too hi-tech for me!
