checked in at my local ALDI at Shaw (Oldham) to get some bike gear when saw VB beer for £5.99 it's the 375ml stubbies and cheaper than Walkabout, know doubt great for some Aussie's who are feeling a bit home sick with all this bad weather.

Thought this was a good deal for a great beer(you can fault the Aussie's for a lot of things , but not their beer!!!)

so come on get another shrimp on the barbie and party like an Aussie.

Not online , but guess it's nationwide , link to Aldi website but not on there either.

That looks OK to me - I often get this from Majestic - £24 for 24 bottles last time, so this is very slightly better and you haven't got to buy 24. I think its normally £6.99 for 6 in Tescos. This is a lovely drop of beer.

All the discerning locals swore the VB stood for Vile Brew when I was last over there

This stuff is designed specifically to leave you with the worst hangover imaginable, you have been warned

Have to go with kiwikeen here. Had one bottle from a minibar over in Sydney, never again.

now you've put the cat amongst the pigeons (or kiwi's should i say) by mocking over a 100 years of Aussie brewing tradition, but i'll take my gamble as surely can't be worse than a Stella Artois hangover.

so expensive in the austrailian shop in covent garden london think i paid £12 somethink for 6 bottles!!! until netto had an offer a couple of months back £3 for 6. so £5.99 for 6 is still really good price. very nice drink my hubby loves it but does need to be cold.

Morrisons were doing this 6 bottles for a fiver which got me hooked but has risen to over £6 now unfortunately. I usually polish off 3 packs on a night in so not cheap but will need to make do until they bring back my beloved Miller in cans!

3 packs as in 18 bottles???

I tried this last week actually, was £6.75 for 6 from Tesco. I found it to be really nice, I had it nicely chilled tho (no other way to drink lager), so for £5.99 I'd say it's a bargain.

As for Australians not liking this, my Dad used to own a deli and he ordered beers in from all over the place for people - he had loads of this stuff coming in for Australians who couldn't find it anywhere (a few years ago now mind), so I think it's fair to say that quite a few of them do like it.....

Yip 18 bottles is the usual but they are only 375ml and often like to top the night off with a few cans of strongbow for the ultimate snakebite effect:D

I spent a year working in Australia and can safely say this was one of the most popular beers in Sydney anyway! The fact that they are sponser and are "plastered" all over the Aussie cricket team should give you some idea.

I used to drink it in wine sized bottles in aus called long necks and forgot all about it untill I found it in Morrisons. I agree it has to be very cold but beware if you drink too many it makes you do Very Bad things!

These packs were previously cheaper than this in Tesco and indeed will be again from tomorrow = £5.64.

a vb price war would be great!

I only drank one as it tasted like pi$$. Even the locals I met in the bars suggested I drank the imported lagers.

We don't like wasting good beer on whinging poms.

Ain't whinging, just don't care for the beer you call "local".

Being from Melbourne it's my local beer. Not really a bitter although it's called Victoria Bitter. Each to their own though.

Should try 'Carlton Crown' if you get the chance.. not a bad drop but premium price.

That's what I ended up drinking ;)
