Nothing at all wrong with fruit and veg from here. Good quality. Must have more money than sense. But we are all entitled to our opinion. May be you should call in and try some!
#5
well some folks cant pay the daft prices they charge and i think the remark makes you look silly
#6
Yeah I got a lovely pineapple and some cauli and cabbage from there the other day. The quality was really good. They don't have a huge choice but what they have is usally very good

Don't have a huge choice?

I got pak choi, squashes, chilis, lambs lettuce, sweet peppers, etc from them on Saturday.

They don't have 400 different varieties of apple which all taste the same like most supermarkets though!

Why would someone that blantantly wishes to spend more money on marginally better products (and that's only in some instances) join a forum that aims to save people money?

Am I the only one slightly confused? :?

Ive found lidl fruit and veg goes off really quick - i bought cherries last week and they were covered in fur within 48 hours and they were in the fridge, alot of it goes off quick- it seems more like market veg? shame

You people are too gullible, it's obvious Rich-G posted that tongue-in-cheek to get the exact reaction you guys have given him (if I wasn't so nice a person I'd call it trolling). You guys fall for it every time, don't rise to the (very obvious) bait!

PS - Waitrose and M&S are for the plebeians and oiks, Harrod's Food Court for the win!

The point about idiots like Rich-G is that they clutter up HUKD, which aims to be a useful and enjoyable site.

Have a look at his (her?) previous posts. Rarely is there anything positive, almost always an irrelevant comment followed by 'voted Cold'.

It's a shame we have to endure such thicko wastes-of-space on this site. Strike him off, mods!! :x

Oh, nearly forgot. Many thanks to OP, wibby, for posting this helpful information. Reassuring to see that useful people still exist.

Its not acceptable to discuss alternatives to the deal? M&S and Waitrose do better Fruit and Veg - fact!

At a cheaper price????

Voted hot, although I do prefer to get my veg from my local market but definately a good deal.
#15
Well go and do your shopping at M&S or Waitrose Rich -G and leave Lidl to those of us who wish to shop there. Fruit and veg been great from there. Heat added, thanks wibby.

If you cannot see the difference between sensible "discussion" and your post #3 above, you simply reinforce my observations at #16.

Lidl is also doing red seedless grapes for 69p a kilo (this was in the Wallington store)
#18
I just went to Lidl (in Sydenham) to do my shopping. I didn't see any of those offers. In fact I paid £1.14 for three peppers. Is it nationwide or store specific?
#19
the margin that supermarkets put on produce is scandelous. lidl are trying to CASH IN ON THE CREDIT CRUNCH BUSINESS AND THEY ARE CRUNCHING TO NEAR MY POCKETS FOR MY LIKING.. CRUNCH CRUNCH CRUNCHING AWAY.

WITH THERE ROTTEN TUSKS. CRANCH CRANCH.

DOES ANYONE FEEL THE CRUNCH TOO??

these were in the bolton store (near the centre)- i checked online, but didn't see the offers, i don't use lidl that often, so not sure on many offers are store specific or nationwide

Voted HOT HOT from me.

I buy all my VEG from Lidl & find the quality is better than Supermarkets... Espec the Vine Tom's, far better and taste good.
Lettuce is extremely cheap, as in i paid 39p for a Romaine Lettuce & the same in Tesco is alomst £1
Y pay more for the Exact same produce from the same PLACE that Tesco and ASDA & others buy it, and for much less... NUFF SAID!!
#22
How about Craaaaaaaaaaaanching on a big juicy lidl tomato with a rotten tusk
#23
I have found that Lidls veg lasts longer than the major supermarkets. Sainsburys stuff is terrible. I'm not sure if thats something to do with the stuff being in very cold storage before they're on the shelves making them decay quicker. Morrisons used to be good, but thats suffering a bit lately.
Voted hot, as I buy at Lidls when I'm passing!
#24
Lidl do half price fruit veg every 'other' week, store dependent manager dependent
#25
I got loads last week, including a watermelon for 99p and some pineapples for 49p :D
#26
its a fact that Lidl veg doesnt last as long as supermarkets veg - EVERYONE ive EVER spoke to has said the same, nbut at the end of the day its CHEAPER sot hats good - just visit there twice a week for your veg and youll never know the difference
#27
Instore fruit and veg as a shelf live of around 3 days before its sold, other then ambient stuff like citrus fruits, potatoes, apples and tomatoes, Lidl dont use chillers/fridges where i live but it still lasts, If the stock doesnt go out when its ment to then it will get old... this is HOT deal.. Even tho i work at asda on produce id still shop at Lidl :D
#28
Yeah, you've got to factor in availability too.. I can go to Asda 24/7 and get all my veg. If I go to lidl at say 4pm they may not have that iceberg lettuce.

I find availability at Lidl stores can be seeminly scant after the initial '11am pensioner rush' :whistling: ...but generally good!
#29
great deal. heat added

not wanting to sound like a lidl fan, this was at 3.30pm, i did notice people looking at the price and then thinking!!! then filling their trolley.

to be honest i prefer to do my veg shopping at the local market, and find the local superstores expensive or just lacking in quality. but this is the first time i've seen good price and quality together. i'm no lidle fan, except the odd good bargain (not good enough to put it on here) this was an exception. any good bargain info you find should be passed on, i apologise if it's not national

What do you base that 'fact' on?
Why haven't you posted any deals from them if they are so good?
#32
my dad actually is a green grocer with his own buisness and has said for years that fresh fruit and veg is for almost nothing anyway. his aim is to make 33% mark up on everything he sells and other than the Mushrooms and cherry tomatoes he is cheaper by far in terms of price.

the reason why mushrooms and cherry tomatoes are a question mark of price is because they are a big seller in his shop and they are bought daily so the price changes from day to day especially in summer as mushrooms are harder to produce in dry wheather and cherry tomatoes just have higher peak demand during salad season (summer again lol).
#33
Just so you all know, this offer ends on Sunday 13th. The main offer is changing to a 40% off chilled goods/ 30% off selected wines offer starting Monday 14th.

Source: I work there.

I actually find this quite funny - as said above, you lot take the bait every single time and produce mindless novelesque replies which is actually what clutters up the boards!!

"strike him off " -- jeez, get a grip.
