Just spotted this on Amazon, have been waiting for this model to drop in price for a while, seems really good value. I hadn't heard of Veho before but they are a UK company and this camera seems fine on the reviews I have read...

"Low light performance is not great"

Surprise surprise! :-(
Every one of these things is the same.... (and I have looked at more than a few!) Now where would I and lot of others want to use one?... Yes, indoors: Parties, for family events, filming pets, children, you know the sort of thing - all low light situations :-(

Outdoors I use a stills camera for landscapes, they don't do a lot of moving around, but that seems the only place you can get good results with one of these. Later model VHS and Hi8 analogue cameras, even cheap ones did fine in low light, so why are these so CRAP? :-(

It's the CMOS sensor that kills the performance in low light, try getting hold of a CCD one if possible, unfortunately they're all mega bucks at the moment :-(

As usual the same complete CRAP from you.
You criticise people for multi posting the same comments - the windows 7 guy springs to mind - and you do the same thing exactly with batteries, flash camcorders and netbooks.
These flash camcorders are NOT all the same - though the one posted is not a shining example.
I bought the Samsung HMX U10 after I posted it on here,
http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/510933/samsung-hmx-u10-hd-flash-camcorder-
I can tell you now having used it almost daily indoors with my child, dog etc it works VERY well,
I don't deny it works better outdoors than in but by no means is it anywhere near as bad as you like to tell everyone. The sound is also superb due to having 3 mics.
If looking for one of these I'd advise everyone to look at Vimeo rather than Youtube as you get the full 1080p clips, rather than listen to the guff this guy comes out with, I'm surprised he hasn't mentioned his 'friend' - the one who seems to have owned just about everything.
And before you make a long speech about your REP - all I can say is its a pity you can't deduct from it as well as add.
It takes little effort to come on here and criticise people up who have taken the time and effort to post deals - which is why you choose to do it rather than post a deal, wouldn't want people doing the same to you perhaps? Or is it you might be proved wrong about something?

I realise it's not the best camera available but I've been after a good HD one for a while but didn't want to spend a lot on one seeing as I won't be using it that often. I saw a few others but thought that, for £99.99, the specs on this one seemed quite impressive. I'll read reviews that say 'well xx camera is better but it's £150', but then you read reviews for that camera and they say 'well zz camera is better but it's £250'. There's always going to be a better camera out there but I'm not exactly an expert with them so hopefully this will do me fine. Unless anyone can show me a better one for £100 so I can cancel my order!? :-)

Well if I am proved wrong about something, it won't be as a result of anything constructive you have to say.

Certainly as a result of this thread, I have been proved right about this, and the whole category of cameras -(

Fortunately there are not too many around, but here is another moaner and whinger that moans and whinges as soon as anyone else complains about problems with an item and calls them moaners and whingers. If the item is crap, then it is as if attacking whoever criticises it will make it LESS crap! It would be funny if it wasn't so tedious :-(

It is pretty clear some people on this thread DO know what they are on about, and know the reasons for it, as I have already acknowledged. Thankfully.

Not everyone is willing to put up with absolute junk in a gadget just because it is cheap, (after all, you can pay much more for an ordinary meal for two and a round of drinks!) and until today, I had lived in hope of getting a reasonable performance video camera for a very low price, but clearly it is just NOT possible at all, so now I can vote negatively on ALL of this type of camera, & pass the info on instead of engaging into any discussion, until such time as the better CCD type units are more affordable, as they are not fit for the purpose they appear to be sold for, and are really only outdoor daylight cameras, about as much use as a cheap webcam would be

In the meantime, as I have avoided buying this crap, I can now cut down on more crap & will simply put you on Ignore. It isn't a perfect system, but it is better than the alternative, as I don't want to have to moan OR whinge about the moaning or whingeing from you again! :-)

Now rather than continue moaning and whingeing, my last piece of advice to you is do the same, you mention I keep doing it, (stalking is SUCH flattery, I never knew anyone cared & I am also so very lucky to have friends who own equipment, I just hadn't realised that others don't have them for comparison) so I can not understand why you haven't done it before. I don't continue to read content from people that post content I don't value - it saves the stress of seeing all that moaning and whingeing you are moaning and whingeing about, and lets those who have either experience or knowledge to pass on be visible.

Now my questions about cheap video cameras have been answered, I can get on with something more interesting.

That's what I have been looking for for some time, but I am not willing to spend that much money for something that just won't do the job :-(

'so now I can vote negatively on ALL of this type of camera, & pass the info on instead of engaging into any discussion'

How much more of a narrow viewpoint could one have? :?
Your friend owned one of an unknown make, price and age - therefore ALL £100 ish flash camcorders are crap - strange as most of the video on perhaps one of the most viewed websites in the world Youtube, is indeed shot on these sort of devices or bad quality mobile phones and the rest of the world seems to be happy with it, kinda puts you in a minority.

Back to the point of the thread,
technology moves on fast these days, as does the firmware - these devices improve dramatically with an update and alot of the problems people have had on the first release firmware have been rectified. Most manufacturers offer regular updates on their websites.
These are so cheap, small, light and easy to use they are ideal for just popping in your pocket and taking anywhere, without lugging a camcorder bag around, preparing tapes etc - you will catch special moments you just wouldn't have done if you owned a bigger camcorder, I had one and hardly used it due to its being too big (well compared to my U10 anyway) - Ive probably used the U10 more in just over a week than I did by bigger 'better in low light' DV camcorder in 4 years.
One thing that does make a huge difference to the quality of the clips is the media player you use - I found VLC to be the best and Quicktime to be by a long way the worst. Youtube doesn't do them justice either to be honest. Straight from the device to your HD tv is superb.
