:-D Well done.

Looks like a stonking bargain to me,-which means there won't any in my local shop.Ho-Hum.
#5
Looks a good deal.

Are these stable and do they work well?
#6
never heard of the make so that would put me off straight away, but still good deal for anyone looking for an inexpensive external HDD, i would just rather go with a name i can trust like WD or Iomega :)

Ive had one of these for around 6 months now and ive never had a problem with it.Its quick and fairly quiet also when i used drive sentinel with it,it showed that it has a samsung drive inside the case.I highly recommend this drive.Hope this helps

Maybe not their mainstream product line, but Verbatim have been one of the biggest and most reliable names in data storage since the days of the floppy disc. I would wager that the disc inside isn't theirs anyway.

This looks like the Makro bargain of a week or so back. I got one of those (to use as off site backup)
and it did what it said on the tin. (Well, box). Can't really go wrong at this price.

Doesn't the .97 mean it's a manager's special?
#10
hot indeed
cheers for the finding

97p is an end of line product
#12
This is the same as the one currently on offer from Makro at £57.74. Given its only 23p dearer and no need to have a makro card then a great deal. I bought one yesterday from Makro and early days but no problems.

LOL. You obviously have no experience of their Zip drives and the 'click of death'. Incidentally, Iomega don't make hard drives - they buy them from other manufacturers.

Oh no not another Curries deal! What drives do these use?
#16
Can anyone confirm if this is available in any Currys stores other than the OP's? If not, then the OP should change to title to show it as store specific.

Hot UK Deals used to be good but its comments like this that just make it rubbish now. People dont know what they are talking about.
#18
Just rang Currys with the product info and code given and they said they don't stock it.
Maybe its just old stock not on their computer, so its hit or miss if your local store has one.
Good price if you find one.
#19
Just been to Currys, could not find the OP's deal but bought a Maxtor Basics Desktop 1TB for the same price.
Don't know if this is a good drive or not. If not its going back.

Just going to write the exact same thing. Mine has been working for over 6 months without a hitch.
#23
I've been burning Verbatim CDs for years now - never had a "coaster". On a side note, I paid £60 for a Freecom (Hitachi inside) 80 GB external drive 4 years ago - think I was ripped off :x Still works perfectly though :-D
#24
I've just been down to the Shirley store where they had 2 left. Premature excitement for then, when they told me they couldn't find either of them. So I left empty handed.

got mine from macro last week and its been great better than the maxtor one i got a year or so ago which died and had to be exchanged 3 times within the week it was bought,..... and its now abit dodgy...... and they say maxtor drives are good too!!

No hard drives are excluded from this, I've had WD and Samsungs that have died yet my Maxtor (generally slated as being rubbish!) keeps going and going!! IMHO, anyone using HDD as their only storage is bonkers, I ALWAYS back up my valuable stuff to DVD and put them out of the way!!
#27
Just got the last one from telford (59.97), they did have 3 Maxtor Basics Desktop 1TB for the same price, but it did not come with any nerobackup software. Maxtor has 3 years limited guarantee.
#28
called into the local Currys who did a stock check and currently in stock - bristol has 4, Southampton 1, Reading 1

They have the 500 gig at £44 so this is a good bargain.

Nice find.
#29
I bought one of these from CDiscount, had an IBM drive inside. Took it out and put it into my system as an internal drive :-D

Why don't you have a look/ring around yourself? Nothing ventured nothing gained?

no i dont have experience of their zip drives (before my time), infact i haven't had any of their drives but its a name i would trust, and i also said WD (western digital) which i have just bought a 1TB drive from and its working great :-D

I would far rather a rotating HDD system of backup than using DVDs - euch. Geesh - some files won't even fit on a DVD.

dont know what theyre talking about ?, i have just bought my 1st external HDD so you are probably right but i was simply stating that when i buy a piece of equipment i will always buy a make which has a proven track record in what they are producing like Western Digital has in external hd

It's not the deal of the century as it's only £10 more on Amazon
#39
Nice find, just bought 2 in Whiterose, Leeds

I can now backup all my photos from my 2 smaller drive to one.
Then copy everything to the other and leave it at the in-laws.
I'm a photographer by the way :)

Each to their own, I guess thats why I VERIFY the discs and then store them SAFELY in WALLETS and BOXES and ONLY get them out when my hard drive FAILS!!!

Guess experience is worth more than I thought and ignorance really is bliss  just dont come crying to me when your rotating HDD STOPS rotating :whistling: (AND IT WILL AT SOME POINT, THATS THE NATURE OF THE FORMAT!!) trust me..... its not a nice feeling!!!
