I bought one over 6 months ago (with a different model number, #47562) and that contained a Samsung drive inside (HM251JI) - who knows what is inside these now.

aah thanks for update;)

They're trying to offload old stock - the new ones are USB 3.0 and not much more expensive. I got the 500GBone for around £40.

Why anyone would pay more than £1 per GB beats me if you shop around you can get any size of 2,5" external drive for less than £1 per GB
Not voted either way coz it's your choice

Was thinking of getting this to use in a laptop myself, can anyone else confirm its just a standard sata drive inside? Or is it one of these frankensteined drives you see now days?

The other Verbatim 500gb harddrive which comet was selling for 39.99 is a better purchase ad the 500gb model is USB3!
