Just bought this - I was happy paying the extra circa £16 for USB 3.0 than the verbatim 2TB USB 2.0 posted the other day -

My new laptop arriving shortly has USB 3.0 but in any case this is backwards compatible for use with USB 2.0 (at USB 2.0 speeds that is).

Seems to be the cheapest price I have found so far.

Hi Computerman

The new Asus 1215n - just been released a couple of days ago on Amazon but having put my glasses on I can see it is BT 3.0 not USB 3.0 :) oh well :)!
2tb with usb 3 pci card £117.16 went up a bit since i last posted it but still a good price me thinks

thanks Computerman - good advice.

Just checking (apols for the possibly daft qn from a non techie but) can a card in a laptop be replaced with the one you mention above (the USB 3 pci card) and specifically in a small netbook or is that more for a desktop?

I also have a windows home server so could possibly replace the card in there for a faster direct transfer?

thanks for the steer

pcie is desktop only
if the netbook had cardbus or express card slot you could buy something like this unfortunately the asus netbook is not a full sized laptop so it doesnt have the slot.
