The verbatim one is actually ridged plastic with grooves in it and looks really nice.

nice.

nice look for those special cd's that you create after paying for mp3's

Do people still buy CD-R's when DVD-R's (or DVD+R's) are the same price or cheaper nowadays? The "look like a vinyl record" gimmick is pointless to me because all it suggests to me is obsolete technology complete with cracks and pops! It doesn't help that apparently there's nowhere to actually write (or print) on the non-recording side either too! BTW, not only do DVD's hold 6-7 times more data, they also record massively faster per megabyte compared to CDs - CD-R's are only useful for old audio CD players (and most people have replaced those with MP3 players or media player PCs or car units that can play MP3's).

wow, seems that you know everything!

this product exists because people still want to have the choice.

They may be a bit gimmicky, but they do the job for many reasons.

Despite technology advancements, people still need older formats.

CDs are still used in cars (whether they are audio or mp3s stored on them)

DJs main format at the moment is CD too, so there is still a big market for them.

Think people should be reading the comments on Amazon before you buy these!

THANKS for making assumptions on my behalf.
Not everyone has a fancy head-unit in their car.
Not everyone uses DVDs for storing music as DATA.

I frequently buy CD-Rs for promotional purposes to give to record companies - these are very eye catching - and indeed I can see others using them for promotional purposes.

The design is gimmicky - but it's retro and in my opinion, quite trendy.
Why do you think fashion goes full circle?

And aside from this - i use CDRs in my CDJ800s for storing mp3s for DJing.
Unfortunately, they don't take DVD-Rs.

These are also a great idea for making birthday/christmas compilations for people as a 'hand made' present. Most people like the gimick and you can add your own cover in the case. Showing as £4.25 now but buying anyway as cheaper than Maplin. Heat +

Oos from Amazon now, only MP sellers have stock.

Mine arrived today. They're cool - well pleased.
