Working link

Been this price before but not for a while.

Heat added btw, for a quid each they're a bargain. Theres nothing available of better quality

link now working
#3
just to touch on the above post about nothing of better quality i think its the ones made in singapore that are very good these ones are made in india and not quite as good still think its a great price though
#4
Never knowingly buy indian verbatims, they can't even get single layers right.
#5
is there a list of which verbatims are made in which country?
#6
India verbs suck LOL. reminds me that i need to replace my xbox dvd drivr

+Heat
#7
Have used around 40 India made verbatims. No coasters yet.
#8
I bought these from Play a couple of weeks ago and they were the made in Singapore ones.
#9
Hot.......never had a coaster yet wether Indian or Singapore......

I can also confirm these are from Singapore.

Verbatim#43666 - Made in Singapore

I ordered some of these along with a 16gb USB key.

Don't forget QUIDCO!
#11
verbatim are awesome, even if some of the discs are made in india

the best discs for xbox backups
#12
these work great for me, now a pound cheaper, heated
#13
I ordered some of these last week at 10.99 and they were made in india, work fine though.
#14
These ones from Maplin are in the sale this month. They are not as cheap but give the buyer the option of checking if they are from Singapore or India before purchase.
Also may be more convenient for some people rather than wait for Play to deliver.

here's the link:

cheers.
#15
Ive been using these
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ritek-Arita-Printable-Dual-Layer/dp/B000V7JHJW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1246222173&sr=1-1
they are made by Ritek, and very cheap, I haven't have a failure yet and they play fine in my dvd player as well, a lot of people that have have a high failure rate with one make or another may find they need a firmware upgrade rather than have bought poor media.

Now now, no need getting personal...

Best to use DVD-R single layer I think.

I use dvd-r in single layer they have a better compatibility with stand alone players but in D/L I have only seen them in + some older stand alone players will not play D/L recordable disks.
#20
Newer players and recorders work fine with both + and - so just get whichever's cheapest unless you have an old player or DVD recording drive.
#21
I'd be very interested in knowing the media code for both the play.com verbatims and the ritek amazon disks. If someone could check, that'd be great. Programs like DVD Identifier (free?) and DVDInfoPro (free trial) will tell you. I'm assuming Verbs are MKM 003 and Riteks possibly RITEK D01?
#22
Thanks solidamber. This is why im getting burned dvds playing on my computer ok but when I put them in my old stand alone dvd players they play either just to the menu, or they refuse to play the dvd at all.
#23
Cheers ordered:)
#24
This is a little rant i guess but india discs are no worse that the ones made in singapore anymore yes they use to be worse but now are on par with the quality, if any of you do PIPO scans then you should be able to confirm this very easily. you know your sources for you content you put on them ask around there isnt any difference between india and singapore and soon all discs may be made in india but dont forget

there all verbatims
#25
i've never had a problem with Aones for the 360, at half the price its a thumbs up from me even though verbs are considered the top dog.
#26
Had a lot of crappy burns with verbatim discs lately...thanks for the info bout the indian / singapore thing!
#27
I buy 10 Aone 8x DVD DL for less than a fiver delivered perfect for everything I've used them for.

Particually good for 360 backups (rated one of the best) never had a coaster in over 150+ burns.

They can be had from most places but I found a guy on an auction site that does them a £3.49 for 10x about £5 delivered.
#28
Hot deal cheers ;)

^ i agree - Aone discs are awesome - i have never had a bad burn out of over 80 discs!
but i still use Verbatim's for frequently used games.

would buy this in a second if i didn't already have an unopened 10xspindle

In my opinion, these are a MUCH better deal:
Ritek Ridisc Xtreme Double Layer 8.5 Gig media. £11.39 for 25.

Wheres the best place to buy the Aone disks?

I install games to hard drive so could maybe do with lesser quality disks than the verbatims if its alot cheaper.
#32
ive used aone disks and find they burn good but not as durable as verbs when using for game backups .
#33
Excellent - i was just about to go into town to find somewhere that sold these for a decent price as all the online dvd shops add about £6 postage!
#34
tbh ive tried aones in the past and have had both good and bad results....truth is a good disc makes your laser last longer...I generally install to hd and use verbs
#35
i bought 100 of these for £23.99 once from amazon. and they are briliant!
dont really know what anyone is on about tho with the indian and sigapore.... whats the difference?\/

They're fine in my experience - you just need a good burner + XBOX 360 DVD-Rom drive.
The older XBOX drives have trouble reading them for me in the past (ie. Samsung drive), i have no problems with them on a Lite-on drive.

Nothing wrong with these IMO, I've been using india verbs for ages without fail. ++
#38
For films that you want to still be working in 10+ years time then I personally wouldn't touch anything except Verbs with regards to DL media.
For short term data integrity (ie <3 years or so) then cheap DL media such as Aones are fine, so for 360 'backups' then you may want to use the cheaper ones as in 3-5 years time we will most likely be playing on a different console!!
Don't be fooled that because the cheap DL media burns and verifys that all is good, the REAL acid test for burnt media is how long that data remains readable, from personal experience I have found that cheap media degrades over time far far quicker than the more expensive Verbs!.
#39
Yes i have to agree you can get cheaper dl media but why.. a game costs 40 quid new and verbs cost only 1 quid each and your aones are half price. maybe not bad burn bt quality is surely better than quantity.

you will also noticeably hear the difference of your 360 drive with other brands to verbs but then its just user preference.

Got 10 of these through the post today, tried the first disk and it's already failed at 75%. Got 5 of the same disks the other day and 1 of them failed around 30% and another failed at finalising the disk (although it worked).

3 successful burns and 2 bad burns.
