Went in there earlier myself and can confirm price.. also had Verbatim Dual Layer 5 jewel packs for £3.49 - picked up a couple of packs and were a couple left.

thanks mrew42....looking at the side of the container they are manufactured in Taiwan

PC World and Sainsburys have been seling these for £7.50 which was a good price so £5.00 for a 50 spindle is very good! Sainsburys were also doing the spindles of Verbatim CDR @ a very good price too but Im not sure if they still have that offer running.....
#8
Full price in my local store today.
#9
Will get my aunt to check these out when she works tomorrow, would only be £4.25 with her staff discount!
#10
'tis a good deal for the price!

Best media I've every used (+, - or DL) and certainly wouldn't use anything thing else for my personal usage... ;)

Stay away from the made in India discs, very poor, got 4 different burners and only my pioneer burns them. DVD-R made in India are the worst i have ever had pleasure to burn and i have burnt over 10000 discs!
#12
None in my local Sainsburys.
#13
Sounds like a great deal. Hope my local has them.
#14
Phoned main store in Middlesbrough and Customer Services said they dont have them only 25 packs for £10

I had some delivered from dixons last week, made in UAE (united arab emirates)

There are without doubt the worst i have had about 20% disk fail rate

made in taiwan have always been good when i have use them though
#16
were they printable or silver topped?
#17
I've never ever found any disc or memory card deals at Sainsburys and this is no different!
#18
Made in Taiwan DVD-R's only, on the shelves at Redditch store.
#19
hope theres some at pock
#20
Verbatim used to be good when they used Taiyo Yuden dyes, but I've not seen any of those for quite a while.
#21
just got mine in Telford Branch
#22
glad to see a few other stores have them
#23
I've used Verbatim discs for years and have never had a problem with them until recently. I bought the 50 DVD-R pack in Sainsburys 3 months ago and about half have been coasters in my Panasonic DVD Recorder - records about 20 seconds or so in XP (best) mode and then fails, the recorder then goes into a reboot cycle two or three times. I threw the packaging away so don't know where they were made. May have just been a bad batch.

Just checked out my local Sainsburys & no offer there must be a local deal or sporadic !!!

Always use Verbatim most reliable discs around imo !!

Usually in Poundstretcher for £8.99 - but better deals elsewhere recently.

ps. the rest of the items in that section were unbelievably overpriced - things like hdmi cables - usb sticks etc - I never fail to be
mystified by who happily pays 2 to 3 ( if not more !!) the price - for things that can be found at REAL prices elsewhere.
These stores really do tempt you in with deals - hoping to fleece you with the rest of the overpriced goods, and they still think its fine to be uncompetitive in these times of recession - mad
#25
yep if they're indian ones i'd leave them on the shelf.
#26
thanks will have a looky although i doubt castle marina in nottingham will have them at this price - they never do
#27
****, the last lot I bought from PC World are ones from India.

They would not have been printable.

Anyone know what dye the Taiwan discs would use? It will determine whether these disks are 1st or 2nd class media. Thanks in advance.

Occasionally they have a few deals but the amount of product lines they have is poor. Will check monks cross, :)

I have used these discs from ALL manufacturing locations, and while the ones from Japan that used the Taiyo Yuden dye were the best, the others burn just fine for me, the ones from Taiwan being the most i have used, but i have india and uae ones here now, and all seem ok so far,i use a plextor 755 or 760 drive and imageburn 90% of the time to burn the discs.

If you want Taiyo Yuden dye now, best get the JVC ones, as TY bought the JVC media manufacturing and branding name, so they have their own household named brand now, rather than being everyone elses bitch

Picked up last two in huddersfield market street. Both made in taiwan. Very hot for price!
