Sainsburys are currently running a price reduction on certain computer consumables and peripherals IN STORE - best deal appears to be 100 Verbatim CD-R Extra protection blank CD's at £9.99. Very good brand and of the 100 I bought there have been no coasters so far (unlike supermarket own-brand from Asda and Tescos which were crap).

The "extra protection" bit is an "extra protection durability layer" - whatever that means!! Oh, and they are for use in 52x speed CD-R/RW drives. 700MB capacity 80 min.

So pop down to your nearest Sainsbury's for a bargain!

good price, heat added.

Lukewarm - unless you're pirating audio CDs, there's really no point in CDRs anymore. DVDRs cost the same, but have about seven times the capacity.

Good point dxx, although I use CD-R's to put MP3 albums on and then use them in my car stereo that plays MP3's (but does not recognise DVD-R's).

I found most own-brand CDR's to be rubbish - especially supermarket brands as they sometimes work but sometimes don't - Even when they do I regularly get broken MP3 playback on my car stereo. The Veratim's are perfect every time and I would even say that the sound quality is better (more defined bass and treble) - guess it is down to better reading of data on the Verbatim disks.

...Can I ad that I convert my music CD's to MP3 and then put 4 or 5 albums on a disk for 2 reasons - 1. Makes life much simpler to have 4 or 5 albums on 1 CD and 2. Is a great anti-theft deterrent as I don't have loads of music CD cases stashed in my car which could attract thieves and cost em money if my retail music CD's are stolen!

I'll just pop a data DVD in my 5 year old honda then?

Nice price but no Sainsburys near here:x

Went down to my local Sainsbury's this morning (a huge one in Solihull)

No sign of these CDs anywhere.

No sign that they even sold them, the only CDs being available are those from Sony and Sainsbury's own brand.

That's an incorrect statement if ever I saw one.

There are a lot of other uses for cdr other than 'pirating audio cds'.

Name three of them.

I'll remind my wife to put her company accounts files onto a dvd from now on even though the file sizes are tiny.

Cdrs still have their uses, and not just for knock off nigel music albums.

I dunno about anyone else but my van's cd player only accepts cds for some reason, and do I want to put the original in my skanked up dirty van (no)
