I know Dixons and PC world are part of the same parent company, but what I wasn't sure if they both were dispatched from the same warehouse or not, so I posted incase they weren't, and Dixons sold out..

Wouldn't we all....except the cheapest you'll get some dual layer Verbs for at the moment is about 80p per disc (Maplins).

voted hot, just ordered 100 :) VERBATIM for me is 99.9% no coasters :)

Also voted hot. These are MCC discs (Mitsubishi Chemical Company I think). The only better disc is taiyo yuden but its a marginal difference I actually prefer MCC or at least some of my equipment does.

I don't know where these are sourced from though. Taiwan and Singapore are best and I think India is worst with china in the middle. Perhaps someone will correct me if I've remembered wrongly.

The last lot I bought was from taiwan and they were all brilliant. Only got about 20 left now. Hence I've bought two packs of these.

JVC in red/white packaing (taiyo yuden) media is the best media in case anyone is wondering but I doubt you'll find 50 of those japanese made discs for this sort of money at least £2 or 3 more per 50 I would of thought.

"...at least 5 packs remaining at time of post."

That might have been useful information had we known what store you purchased them from.

Thankfully others have realised it's available online and all over so I believe I'll be picking some up soon.

bonzo - You're absolutely right. Good quality discs and I've heard nothing but praise for the TY brand but have yet to try them myself. Every Verbatim disc I've burned has been perfect so I've never needed to switch. Datawrite are pretty decent too (especially their Titanium range which also use MCC). Their VX2 uses CMC Mag so not on par with their brothers. Sony have also been pretty reliable too (but I had to resort to them when I used all my Verbatim's and Sony was on offer @ Play).

Excellent thanks. Just Ordered.

Just got a pack of 50 from Currys and burning a film as i speak. The packaging says 16X and the film is burning at 18X :w00t: Wierd :-D

Yes they under spec them. for reliable burning though I tend to burn much slower and ive done hundreds. The value in these discs which are thorougly recomnended because no coasters = no waste and no wasted time. The recordings tend to be rock solid i.e they dont degrade over time.

I would still store most things on a cheap hard drive these days.

The ones I picked up from the Lincoln PC World were made in India.

Nuts!

I was hopeing for taiwan or singapore. Doesn't mean all verbatims are indian sold by pc world and it doesn't mean they are inferior discs its just india seems to have the higher percentage of bad batches or so is claimed on some forums. I've never had any myself before.

Maybe they hold back the taiwanese batches for online sales so they don't get people sending them back? wishful thinking on my part.

If you do get indian verbatims and unlike your previous verbatims get coasters send them back. I know I will.
