Always had good results with these to be honest no matter which region they are made it, they might not be using the tayo yuden dye any more, but still seem reliable and as good if not better than the rest of the high street brands.
As for the price, can't go wrong really :) will graba couple of boxes later i think
#18
This is a deal that runs every couple of months, I always take a look down the stationary aisle and stock up when they are on.

Only had 3 coasters out of the last 200 or so which is pretty good going.

The DSG shops usually come closest at £9.99 for collect at store on these.

thanks

Have burned loads, manufactured in Japan and Taiwan, with no problems. In a lapse of judgment bought 100 online from eBuyer, and got Indian made discs. Lost about 10% of them.
Great deal if you get the right ones.

surely RW is wrong in the title
#22
Most carboot sales or computer fairs manage to cut below the retailers, you can usually pay £5 or £6 for a pack of 50. Just keep ya eyes open :)

They get mixed results but I have burned and checked 5 and they are fine.

Ok, grabbed 2 packs today, had to ask staff to check for stock as shelves were empty, they seemed to be very behind with stocking the shelves, lots of the sale items only just being put out today, also, many boxes of things with red tape on them clearly labelled "January sale item"
Which is interesting as it means they are buying in stock, or allocating stock specifically for the sales

Discs i got today were made in Taiwan, first time i've had that regions one's from sainsbury's normally it's the indian made ones from there.... guess we'll find out if they are ok or not (havent had the taiwan ones before)

What ink code are they? I get TYG02 £13/100 printable dvd-r from my local market.
Aren't local markets a nationwide thing or are they outlawed in parts?

I have to admit that is extremely unlikely, mainly because the biggest RW pack I can see is 25 rather than 50, and they're usually much more expensive. From memory, Sainsbury's usually do the rewriteables in a 10 pack spindle, although they are sometimes included in the half price offer.

I regularly buy these discs when the offer comes round every so often, they're the best ones I've found for the money. Even online retailers can't match the quality AND the price.

No need to apologise, I've just checked an image of the DVD+R box;

http://i29.tinypic.com/2lxi25c.jpg

and there is indeed a 'RW' symbol. I don't see what that symbol actually means though, the Verbatim rewriteables have it as the predominant text;

Since me being proven wrong would make this an even better deal, could you actually have a go at rewriting one? I went for DVD-R's which don't have the same symbol, but I'll go back for a pack of DVD+R's if they are rewriteable. :)

The silly RW is always printed on these disc below DVD+/- R. These are write once.

Plenty in my local, the +R is made in Taiwan, -R made in India - this is stated on the info side on the pack.

It does leave things open to misinterpretation though. And my DVD-R packs don't have that symbol, which makes it all as clear as mud! :)
#36
I chose the +R as prefer taiwan than india and it has this rw on the disc. Yeah it can get people confused, for those of us who knows, dvd RW has a different colour writing surface to dvd r.

spot on that's the one i've got i will try to do one now if they are re-writeable will let you know later
#38
The 50 packs DVD +R with 16x writing are not rewriterables, I have used hundreds of them. The rewriteable disc can only write at 4x speed and cost about 3-4x more than a normal write once disc

I am happy for you but having seen the quality scans done by professionals I would say anything other than Taiwan (japan seemingly discontinued now) are not worth the premium. India and China come out especially poor.

this is weird i have actually tried one just now it says RW on the drive and i did burn a file using Nero ( data DVD ) and when i try to burn something else using the same disc something came up disc not empty so i click yes to erase but it doesn't do anything so i would say they are NOT. so RW up there should be removed. sorry guys
