You won't get the full speed with the 6 gb's SSD, so may as well go for this
Yes, an OS drive with programs is what most people use it for.
If it's an old laptop it prolly won't accept a SATA drive, only PATA.
In trusth I canny afford a 256gig, os & games atm come to 188gig, I could either:
128 gig trim games and have a 95% full drive
128gig, games (steam) on 500gig hd
or 500gig hd, SSD cache with one of these drives
