Just been to my local PC World, where people were queing to get in before the store opened! Managed to get an Intempo IDS03W Ipod docking station for £4.97 Which i assume are normally ranging from £35 - £60? Also got a Creative Zen 1gb MP3 Player for £4.97! Great deal for me beings my Shuffle was stolen a few weeks ago!

There were many other bargains too, like printers, cables, pc software, wii, xbox, ps3, ps2, ds and psp games!

The games and software are only available instore i think!

Worth a look if theres one near you!

>>
If anyone can get hold of the 9600GT for £10 please buy it and I'll pay the postage + a little extra, I'd really appreciate it thanks, if possible I could do with two (one for my PC and one for my mums.

Thanks!

What were the prices of Ps3, wii? etc

roughly how much discount % or money off?
#2
Console games were atleast 40% off what was in clearance. The other stuff i wasnt so sure, but it was heavily discounted, and the staff were grabbing lots. I bought that intempo docking station for £4.97, and its £62 on amazon.

The 1gb creative zen i bought was onmly £4.97, reduced from £24.99.

Also had them electronic photo frames for £14.97. Lots and lots of cables and leads, and a good clearout on the old laptops.

I See the silly 'COLD' voters are at it again.

A bit more info on the zen i picked up.... Its called a Creative Zen Stone. Its Blue and its 1gb.

Its exactly the same as this one:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Creative-Zen-Stone-1gb-Player/dp/B000PD18TE

It may be discontinued, but for £4.97, you cant really complain for that price! The ear phones are worth more than that aint they!

DSGi sales are CARPER Than CARP, They put up all the prices before xmas then sale at the normal RRP.
What a brainwash, People actually fall for this rubbish!
most of their "SALE" items are always cheaper online.

I'm sure most people on here are wise enough to know what's a bargain, and what isn't....

You will probably find that whatever is reduced instore today, is a clearout of the stock room. Therefore, no, it probably wont even be stocked again by that store! I dont know how people can say that what i have just got it a bad deal!!!
#15
Creative Zen 1gb MP3 Player for £4.97 is a GOOD deal...end of!
#16
I've just been into PC World, Currys, and Comet.
I have to ask - what sale? The main items are still the same price as last week.
#17
Are you telling me consoles are on 40% off?????????

Wouldn't it be easier if you phoned you local store rather than some twonk on here saying yes and then you go down on a fools errand.

With r&c at both currys and pcw , our locals will ring or text if not in stock to save you the journey.
#21
Hi OP, are u indicating PC world Xmas sales started today?

please be aware..DSG will be going t**s up very soon

If this is true (can quite believe it is one of 20 retailers packing up soon), then better to wait until the New Year to get a bargain
#23
i would have to agree with JC, MrT and CJ as pcw and currys r full of manure. They usually drop da price of an end of line product of wich they only have 3 of left in their entire chain.
#24
It will be the sale of the century if DSG goes down.
#25
just come back from pc world all of the games were rubbish
no money of consoles what a wast of time.
all of there games are over priced any way
i hope thay close down like woolworths
#26
this cant be all stores-just read this post then texted my m8 who is manager of cardiff store and he has no idea what this is about!

maybe a local store clearout.

the DSG groups prices are generally not good, but they did have a decent games sale (.97 .98 clearance sale) a few months back, bought about 15 new and sealed PS3 games, mostly about £10 some £5. Also got them to price match + beat 10% difference Gamestation's £19.99 PES09 offer a few weeks ago, got it for about £18. (also PCworld's better than Currrys for games as they usually leave them new & factory sealed whereas Currys open them & take discs out cases causing scratches/fingerprints on discs & storage wear on the cases)

don't really want them to close down though, the UK already have enough ppl out of work, and also maybe in the future they may have another one of these games sales, or I can use them to pricematch +10% difference.
#28
How likely is it that DSG will go down?
#29
Oh well, i got my bargains.

Today is the start of the PC World christmas sale yes.

I would say it is a possibility in the current climate and certainly with the diabolical customer service they showed me when I went in to buy 3 laptops and came out with none as the sales person didn't give a stuff...Mmmm lets think why they may go down!

I hope they dont for all those that work there (except the muppet who 'served' me!):santa:Ho ho ho
#31
Looked at the online sale stuff, and there is nothing much there. Thought the proper sale started Boxing Day:?
#33
Read this rushed out to my local (big) PC World and............................................

absolutely nothing on sale/clearance. May be individual stores starting early.
Most things more expensive than elsewhere.
#34
Sorry to hear that copperface. I rushed out this morning to my local store. Got their before it opened and there was people queing outside to get in. There were about 3 isles full of clearance. It has to be national otherwise they wouldnt advertise it on the website!

Even on the website it says " 40% off games and software " instore only. Also saying stationary items from 10p, although i have to admit my local store doesnt stock stationary.
#35
Were they all marked up with the new prices, or did they just scan at those??

There were no marked reductions at mine.

You got some good deals though. I was after the Stone 1gb as a stocking filler for my little one but they were still £10 odd.
#36
Well I've just come back from my local (Inverness), there's not a sale as such, just one or two items in every product section & in bins / on tables dotted about.

Did some shopping, highlights included:

Hercules DJ Mobile MP3 Wireless Mixer £19.97
Altec Lansing InMotion IM4 Portable Speakers £14.97
Kodak EasyShare V1003 £39.97

Belkin Pure AV Digital Camcorder FireWire Cable
£4.97

As mentioned before Zack & Wiki, also Okami & No More Heroes (badged @ 14.97) all £10. Three of the best Wii games of last year. They also had Trauma Center Second Opinion & Mario Strikers for the same. LOTS of shovelware too.

The Darkness - PS3 - £5
Uncharted: Drakes Fortune, Motorstorm, Resistance FOM, Unreal tournament 3 were down to a tenner.

PC wise nothing stunning saw Dungeons & Dragons Online big red boxset, might be collectors edition, for something stupid like £2

They had as many 360 games deep discounted, but as I don't have one I paid little attention.

Even the mac users got shown some love, FULL Final Cut Express 4 package for £67.97.

256Mb DDR2700 SODIMM to shore up the mithers laptop for another 6 months £1.97
They did have many more sticks of RAM of varying speeds, mostly DDR2 & biggest I saw was 512Mb but depends on store I guess, desktop RAM also, similar pricing.

There was of course some deals that were middling at best, but I went in with my iphone trained on google shopping, HUKD & amazon so I don't think I got too burnt.

I'd love to post these as individual deals but I'm due in at work @9PM & not been to bed yet!

I'm guessing these deals are unique to the stores stock of these one offs, end of line whatever, ALL were badged with a round red label stating 'Massive stock clearance sale, save at least 40%' Just start hunting for the badges once you find one, they're all over the place, like a geek treasure hunt !

Only went in for the firewire cable too...

At my local PCWorld they had three or four tables set up in the main gangway with a selection of stuff on it. Good reductions if you were after the particular item:

I picked up another Sennheiser RS110 for £14.97. That got good heat here when it was £17.99 at Play.com and probably the best buy there.
Other things I noticed were a number of laptops with decent reductions e.g. last generation 2.5GHz Macbook Pro for £899. Ex-display white Macbook for £499, black Macbook £599.
A few Toshibas and Sonys with similar deductions.
A 200Mbps Powerline adapter for £14.97.
512MB 8800GT PCIe graphics card for £50 (reasonable price for an ageing card and probably the cheapest atm)
A few Creative sound cards - not priced
A few compact cameras - not able to judge if these are worth your while.
A lot of console games for £10 or less.
Some overpriced cables still too expensive after the rebates - eg FW800 cable for £8.
A Sony 1GB stick MP3 player for a tenner
The inevitable LCD picture frame (vies with chocolate fountain for most unwanted present ever)
An internet radio/music system for £30 and a lot of old obsolete overpriced tat that should have been slung out ages ago - PC100 memory anyone?
#38
Thanks OP..
I missed the boat as I didn't see the post untill 2pm and pretty much everything had gone, but picked up ridgeracer for £4.99... not groundbreaking but well worth the trip:thumbsup:

I suspect as above there was a fair bit early doors, I was just too late...
and when I asked I was told well they are gradually pricing everything as "no-one wants to do it tomorrow" ready for Boxing day ;)

that said when I mentioned the supposed £30 drop on consoles in the boxing day sale, I got a blank look lol..
#39
just have some heat
#40
Thanks for posting your finds. I was beginning to think i was going mad, and maybe it was just only my local store! Yeh Copperface, i think i had the last Creative Zen Stone 1gb. Was a very good price.

The goods that were reduced had big round stickers on like northernlights stated.
