Its probably because they think you can get a digital camera for £99 so why pay any more. My father paid £2k for his 5D when it first came out. I won't be telling him he could get one now for under £950!

I guess your Father knew he was buying a quality item, the £99 cameras are ok for basic use but something like this is on the next level. i bought a Canon eos 450d for around £520.00 about a week ago and am seriously considering on sending it back for this

I'm after the 40D too, just placed an order though I don't think it will come off as it isn't marked as in stock so I don't think the 15% off will probably apply... but worth a try

Voted hot. Excellent price for the 5d.

Everyone seems to be using them... World Press Photo winners, Pulitzer Prize winners... ;)

got the 40D at the office so i borrow it at weekends to practice. am a nikon person from when i did photography (first cam was FM2) but the 40D has proven pretty good, a little light but with macro lens it's fab.

As I expected as the 40D wasn't in stock my order has just been cancelled... oh well was worth a try back to my plan of buying it duty free in a few weeks time

I have this camera and paid around £1170 a year ago and can certainly recommend it for the keen enthusiast and at this price it's a bargain IMO.

Remember that you will need quality glass to get the most from this camera....

There will probably be a replacement due out around Aug/Sep but demand will be high and so will the initial prices.
