I like to find new and interesting ways to tell people I have a convertible too. :P

Mine's a daily drive...... by which I mean I mostly work from home or commute by train, but always find an excuse to go out topless.

Having not flown first class for a couple of weeks I must pick up a Toblerone in Poundland soon.

Have I got the gist of it?

Yet another one of these where virtually all the reviews are sponsored / paid for. Just like this one I bought the other day: http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/jackery-spark-powerful-18000-mah-jump-starter-42-99-amazon-2575101?p=29585165

Mine turned up and it feels exactly like the sort of rubbish thing I would buy at a market in the street. Described as "packing a punch" it feels light, plasticky and took less than an hour to fully charge. I find it hard to believe that it would jump start a moped, let alone cars up to 6ltr, up to 30 times.

I am going to deliberately discharge the battery in my car tomorrow (i'm replacing it anyway) so I can use it and and see just how much of a punch it really packs.

In the meantime, I would recommend everyone takes the reviews with a large pinch of salt.

Had a similar one for 2 years - used it 3 or 4 times on my old battery, which used to die suddenly. Worked well and holds charge for a long time. Not needed to use it since buying a new battery.

Yeah I never know why these are advertised as car starters, surely better for if your in a tent or own a caravan or into something wired.
For £10 or £20 more you would buy a new battery. Or if you get H.u.k.d you'd get down the scrap yard and get a decent battery for £10

Thanks OP!

I was tracking this in CamelCamelCamel with a trigger price of £42.00, but never got an email alert!oO

On checking though, the item was being sold by the Amazon MP seller VicTsing who has this for £45.99

The Amazon MP seller VicTop that you linked to has what looks like the exact same item for £36.29, so heat from me OP!

The only difference I can see is a typo in the title on the Amazon page which states 1300mAh, whereas the specs down the page state 13600mAh

Other sellers have it for £51.99

Even if you have AA/RAC cover (some of which doesn't include 'Home Start'), they can take a good hour to reach you in some cases, so for £36, it's worth having in the boot even if you never use it.

Always handy as an emergency phone charger too!

I must admit to chuckling at the RRP from different sellers though:
£36.99 (RRP £106.99)
£45.99 (RRP £55.99)
£51.99 (RRP £69.99)

Can vouch for this machine having taken delivery yesterday. Charged it up , connected it to the battery and BOOM! (not a minor explosion!) but started perfectly and today the car is purring once again.

Hi. Mine has worked a treat so far. Had to use it twice in two days on two different cars.

Be very careful with these cheap and nasty jump packs, they can fail in dangerous ways.

They are called "car starters" as they are designed to start your car in the event of a flat battery, and the decent ones do exactly that.

Why would you prefer to get public transport to a battery supplier, spend a load of money on a new battery and then have to carry something weighing 10-20kg back to your car to replace a battery that may be perfectly fine and just need charging when you could simply jump start it with a decent jump start device (i.e. probably not this one)?

You may be out of touch on battery prices as well. A new AGM battery for a modern diesel engined car with start/stop could set you back over £200.

Hi - no it didn't, not even close. I have posted an update accordingly.
