Build quality is excellent.
If you need a wood saw, consider the Huntsman for £12.99 at 7dayshop but they are OOS. My order has been on back order for two weeks.

my Victorinox is the only pocket knife I've had where nothing has broken, blades take a good edge but are not too hard, to they dont flake off at the ends or snap when over doing it (will bend if it has too)

the red plastic outer has never split or come away from the knife, and stands up to years of use
I have had several pocket knives going back a couple of decades, only the victorinox is still here and as good as day one

accessories work as expected and hold up, the only niggle is you need a good thumbnail to open the blades, no easy grips to help.

Cheers OP, my father's Day pressie sorted!

would i be breaking the law if i kept this in my glove box? Seems a very useful thing to have, but not so much if i can't take it out the house.

I dunno really
I keep a small bag of tools in my boot, amongst them is a folding multi tool (with knife) in its own case

they might argue it was within reach in the glove box
the law says something like If it's a penknife (pocket or folding knife) less than three inches long (although it may be considered offensive if carried for the purpose of causing injury or harm).

the main blade on this is less than 3 inches, so should be ok, but i still would put in the boot if i were you

HoHO! Jubbyme.

I have one of these, my ex stepson bought it me. It's a cracking little tool to have around the house. Keep it in reach. Get one for every room!

I carry one with my keys. Kept my blade dull though (it needed sharpening out of the box), it's still good for opening parcels. :P

Do I really need a Swiss Army Knife? I am tempted. But do I need it? I have survived for many years without one.

It depends on the circumstances. As long as the blade is under 3" there is a special provision in the legislation for penknives habitually carried by people for "general purposes". This is intended to allow for us older gents who normally do carry a penknife as a matter of habit and for that matter for the more mature ladies who often have a small penknife in their handbags for skinning fruit, cutting cake etc.

However, a "yoof" taking a knife out for the evening or into clubs etc will find himself with some explaining to do.

Do you need a lot of things that you buy?
I think its more of a case of do you want one...?

All too true. Must resist. Also, I bet that 99% of people that buy this product are men?

This disabled pensioner was prosecuted for carrying one in his glove box with a first aid kit: http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/169587/Man-with-penknife-in-his-car-is-handed-a-criminal-record
I feel much safer now that this evil maniac has been brought to task!

OMFG. This country is seriously fecked up. Thats such a load of bull crap! Stuff like that makes me really angry!!!! GRRR!!!!!

I always carry a pocket knife and regularly use it out and about for little things, I did buy a "manual" opening knife that was excellent from DX but it turned out to be an assisted opening knife spring loaded more like a flick knife, very illegal. But a general pocket knife is useful.

Note the length of 3" for the blade isnt from one end of the other but the actual length of the cutting edge so a slighty curved blade edge may take it over.

I have had a victorinox for over 16 years, I think it is the model below this as does not have tweezers or the curved gouge attachment, the only thing that has broken is the spring on the scissors, I sharpen the blades once in a while and still almost razor sharp.
Am sorely tempted at this price but really don't need it, as am so happy with my original.
#22
I have just bought one, they look good and high quality... have some heats
#23
I have had one of these for over 16 years and I carry it daily, it is worth noting all Victorinox knives have a lifetime guarantee, (this is actually my second knive, the screw holding the scissors together stripped its threads on my first, now they are riveted together) The hook is officially classed as a 'parcel carrier'!! the FIL says it is to get boy scouts out of horses hooves! :whistling:
#24
oh bloody hell this site has gone and got me to buy another multi tool!
#25
No need to get panicked into buying yet another tool that you you may need (but probably sit around in a drawer)...7dayshop can "store" this one for you when you really need it as they are always available from them quite cheap... this particular Climber model is 99p more
#26
Just checking the other models...

look at this :w00t:

That would make sense if you could add/remove the layers of tools you don't need to carry.
