> these "advanced" models are usually too bulky for my liking .. but nice deal

So the Amazon Wenger Giant Swiss Army Knife is definitely out then :-D

Being ex forces (and an engineer) and having owned both Leatherman and Gerber multi tools in the past I would only buy either of those 2 brands. I have a Leatherman Charge Tix at the moment and if you have any issues with it they replace the broken bits or just give you a new one. I think its a 25 year guarantee aswell. My one is still as new after the desert and other nasty places over the past 4 years. I could probably do with sharpening the 2 main blades but it will be the first time so who's complaining

Don't trip over onto that thing. Looks like a transformer that turns into a complicated beartrap!!

Leatherman & Gerber tend to be Multitools, and not a Swiss Army Knife.
They are both excellent Multitools, but some people prefer the the more compact and lighter Swiss Army Knife, and Victorinox are the best of these.
Why do some people have to be so pedantic on here, when i was just voting hot on this deal.

Another one: Victorinox 1371300 Army Knife Huntsman Red
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Victorinox-1371300-Army-Knife-Huntsman/dp/B0001P151W/ref=pd_sim_sg_title_2
It's only half the price of this one? Is this any good? I know the one in OP has more functions, but are these functions useful? Any suggestions?

I have one almost the same as that, bought it 4 years ago to replace one i lost that was 12 years old.

imho they are good pocket knives/tools.

The knife and scissors get the most use but the bottle opener and screwdrivers have all sdeen use too!.
For the price its well worth it. and it will last ages, they are well made.
